Boy Scout Roundtable Announcements

While our Roundtable Staff strives to bring you all the latest announcements and information available in a timely manner, we would like to remind you that the basic function of roundtable is Unit Service. Our wonderful district has many sources of constant information available to the volunteer leader with Roundtable being just one of them. The monthly newsletter, the Chickensheet is published monthly and is probably the most official source of news and information for all things Foothills. The website is another source of info and a good way to communicate with the district team. Facebook and Twitter are also popular sites that contain good info about Foothills district. In addition, there are other meetings and events thru the month where information is distributed. Notices, Flyers, Pictures, and Announcements are not in short supply. The “prepared” scouter will seek out available resources to stay informed. Time is a valuable commodity at Roundtable meetings and we have tried to cut back on verbal announcements so that we can spend more time bringing you those tools you need to provide a quality scouting experience to your scouts. We know, however, that there are still times when critical information needs to be presented to our audience and want to provide a way to do just that.

How to submit Roundtable Announcements:

1. Video Slideshow - The bulk of our Roundtable Announcements are now made on a scrolling video slideshow in the meeting area. The video is continuous and is repeated throughout the entire meeting time. To have your event or subject promoted to this slideshow, please follow these simple instructions.

□If possible, please provide a MSPowerPoint slide of your announcement in landscape format.

□If .ppt is not possible, provide a MSWord .doc with your info as you would like for it to appear.

□If .doc is not possible, email your announcement with pertinent information: What, When (date AND time), Where, $, Why, Who to contact, email and phone number.

□Please make sure your info is timely, remember that Roundtable is the first Thursday of each month and this info is needed at least two days prior to be able to process for announcement. Announcement should be for events that fall within 60 days of your announcement.

□E-mail your information to Mike Cherches. or call at 678-910-4582.

2. Verbal Announcement – If you feel that this form of announcement is absolutely necessary, you may request time on the agenda in the following manner

  • Please notify Mike Cherches for Boy Scout Roundtable, no later than 48 hours prior to Roundtable with the following information (see bullet point 3 above).
  • Time will not be guaranteed. Maximum time allotted will be 2 minutes.
  • Make sure your announcement is targeted to the specific audience and relevant.
  • Be concise, give just the details. What, When, Where. And give your contact info to give more information. Publish that info in a flyer that you can handout, or other media.
  • Do not ask for questions. You can answer them after the meeting.
