Hours: This is full-time, exempt position

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS

  • Complies with requirements specified by the Department of Health and Senior Services, Mid America Regional Council, Clay and Platte Senior Services for providing medication management, homemaking chores, personal care and respite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, compassionately, and clearly with others, both verbally and in writing.
  • Communicates with Supervisor any changes in care plan, client health or environmental situation or personnel issues.
  • Interacts respectfully with all customers and/or family members.Respects dignity of all customers and their families.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to cultural and ethnic differences in all interactions.
  • Clearly communicates with customer the process and outcome timeframes.
  • Creative use of available resources to adequately meet customer’s needs.

SUPERVISORY

  • Responsible for supervision of Lead caregiver and team of caregivers (up to 6), which includes weekly calls and one community visit a month.
  • Must be willing to be available one day weekly for the Humana program and accept clients when emails are sent up to 4 times daily.
  • Be available one week month for on call after hours and weekend.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear and occasionally required to climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities usually required by this job include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.

  • Must possess one year direct care of the elderly and supervision of personnel. Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance are requirements of the position as well as a clean driving record. Must be skillful in utilizing Microsoft Office.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATES, PROFESSIONAL LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • LPN License in the State of Missouri, CPR certification

MINIMUM TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Throughout the greater Kansas City, Missouri metropolitan area, Clay, Cass and Platte Counties
