Novel Notes: Chapters 28 through 32

  1. Chapter 28, pages 45 – 57
  2. Vocabulary: Misanthrope, page 52, a hater of humankind.
  3. Setting: The characters are Jill, Steve, and Russ. They are on a golf course in Hawaii, and it is late afternoon. They need to hurry because the rain is coming in.
  4. Summary: The most important events in this chapter are that Jill is beating both the guys in golf; therefore, they will owe her free golf for the rest of the year. With the money she saves, she’ll be able to enter the million dollar golf tournament and have more time to practice.
  5. Prediction: I predict that Jill will not receive free golf because these two guys are constantly making promises they never keep.
  6. Question: Will Jill be able to get into the tournament even if the guys flake out on her?
  7. Connection: In the world today, there are many people who are good at things yet lack the financing to follow their dreams. Sometimes people’s dreams are strong enough that they make a commitment to pursue them and make the choices that will eventually lead to their success. My brother did that when he got enough sponsorship to race in the Grand Prix in Long Beach.
