HIGHER CERTIFICATE IN CHRISTIAN MINISTRY (HCCM)

Introduction

The vision of Seth Mokitimi Methodist Seminary (SMMS) is to ‘form transforming leaders for Church and Nation.’ Our goal is to offer values-based programs that develop and nurture leaders of impeccable character and ethics, the highest moral standards, socially conscious intellectual capability, and refined vocational skills.

Why a Higher Certificate in Christian Ministry with SMMS

Depending on a performance, completion of the High Certificate would not only allow access for graduates into the SMMS diploma or degree, but would qualify them for entrance into any higher education institution for a variety of programmes.Graduates may also access work opportunities in Faith Based organizations.

Curriculum

With this stated vision, SMMS offers the HCCM to encourage and promote the development of basic theological education for church leaders. The program offers with the following core components:

  • Biblical Studies
  • Theological Studies
  • History of Christianity
  • Practice of Christian Ministry and Mission
  • Denominational Studies (optional for particular denominational requirements).

A total of 8 courses (120 credits at 15 credits per course) need to be completed in order to qualify for the Higher Certificate. The programme is assignment based and there will be no written examinations.

As a long-distance provider of theological education, SMMS will provide guidance and course materials/Academic readers either in spiral bound, electronically emailed or posted to registered students.

Who Can Apply

The HCCM is developed to cater for those who require theological training and skills towards various church based ministry and services such as Local Preachers, evangelists, youth pastors, Sunday school teachers, Biblewomen and those who aspire to study towards ordained ministry.

Admission Requirements

For admission to a HCCM, a candidate must have obtained a Matric (Grade 12) or a National Senor Certificate (NSC), or its equivalent (NQF4) entry education.

Prospective Students

Prospective students will pay an annual non-refundable administration fee of R200 for every academic year registered. Study fees of R1000 per course and R340 per course reader/material which include postage, are payable upon registration. The following documents are to be submitted with the application form:

  • Certified copy of ID book.
  • Certified copy of Matric/National Senor certificate or last school-leaving certificate.
  • Proof of payment of an Annual non-refundable application fee and Course fees.

Note: Study fees for a minimum of 2 course are payable upon registration once admission is approved.
