Here’s what you need to know about the class:

  2. This course will be offered for the next 18 weeks, and we will cover the seven units which make up the American History IIcurriculum.
  3. My policy towards grading is as follows:

  1. I have a straightforward disciplinary policy. If you follow the rules of the school and are respectful to me and your classmates, we won’t have any problems.

a)A cell phone violation will result in the phone being confiscated for the entirety of the day. In extreme cases, the phone may be sent to the main office.

b)Any behavior that causes a clear disruption to class will result in the student being removed from that situation. If the student’s behavior continues, an administrator will be contacted to remove that student from the classroom.

c)Language that is derogatory or profane will result in the student getting detention.

  1. Want to raise your grade? Come to class, pay attention, study for exams, and turn in all your work. In the case of an absence, it is the student’s responsibility to make up any missed work. The student will have (5) days to do so.

Now, this is what we will be studying:

This course will offer a survey of American History beginning with the period following Reconstruction and concluding with modern events such as the September 11th Terrorist Attacks. In this class, we will cover topics such as imperialism, industrialization, war, recession, cultural conflict, and globalization. If you don’t know what these words mean, it’s not a problem. You will learn them very soon. We will also learn about some truly interesting peoplesuch as John Rockefeller, Teddy Roosevelt, George Patton, Cesar Chavez, and Malcom X. These individuals helped to make this country into what it is today.

* Lastly, if you have a problem, let me know and I’ll do my best to help you solve it. I’m here to help out. Remember that!

Those films will beCinderella Man, Far and Away, Fly Boys, and Forest Gump. The films have been pre-screened; however, there will be some violence related to the era and mild language. If you have any problem with your child watching any of these films, please contact me and I will provide an alternate assignment for your child.
