at 7.30 pm in the Village Hall.

Queens Jubilee 2012 – Tree Planting, Street Party &

West Norfolk Olympic Torch Relay Sunday 3rd June 2012

  1. Nominations were received for torchbearers. The Council voted for two adults and two children whom had all made a long-term contribution to the village. Julie Austin, Clare Peak, Alice Coyne and an Andersson child.
  2. A banner advertising the torch relay has been offered and it was decided to accept this and display it along the village hall hedge line.
  3. It was decided that it was very difficult to supply a commemorative item to each child in the village, as some children who attend the playgroup and school do not live in the village and came from other parishes.
  4. The favoured location to plant an Oak tree is by the Bus Stop at the bottom of Nethergate Street. It is not known who owns the land.
Installation of Benches, repair of Notice BoardAdam Case to liaise further with CTM regarding the benches. Possible locations for the benches were suggested as half way up wood from Short Lane to Church Lane, Brickyard Lane and to replace the bench at the Bus Stop at bottom of Nethergate Street.
A quotation had been provided by Wards of Fakenham to make a 5ft x 4ft Notice board for £160. It was AGREED to proceed. Clerk to check it will have safety glass/perspex, good high catches so children cannot reach.
Bus Service169 houses received the Bus Survey but only 15 were returned. 4 gave times when they would use the shuttle service. Clerk to pass results of survey to Gt Massingham Parish Council.
Tim Richards to collate a list of all bus services which reach Harpley for What’s On.
Clerks RemunerationIt was AGREED to bring Clerks remuneration in line with NALC recommendation of 4 hrs per week.

Councillor Chenery reiterated need to use Docking recycling centre as it is still under threat.

Email received from visitors re car parking around The Rose & Crown, dog mess and cats on Cross Street. Clerk to reply saying that the Parish Council will monitor all matters.

Planning Matters

Planning Application ref. 12/00170/F for erection of timber studio/summerhouse in existing garden of Wren Cottage, Church Lane. Clerk to write stating no objections as long as the development does not affect the mature trees on the site.

Planning Application ref. 12/00366/F Single storey extension to front and porch/canopy over entrance door at Meadow House, Back Street.
Chairman Adam Case left the room. There were no objections to the planning application. Adam Case rejoined the meeting.

There being no further matters for discussion, the Chairman thanked all present for attending and declared the meeting closed at 20.25 hrs.
