Dear Parents;

Greetings! My name is Roxane Coron and I am your child’s French III teacher. I arrived in Louisiana, from Belgium, in 2002 after being a teacher and educational consultant in France, Belgium, Italy and Vietnam for a total of 21years of experience.

There are many reasons for your child to pursue the study of the French language at an advanced level and you may be interested in reading the fact sheet in attachment.

In this class, while deepening his /her mastery of French your child will also develop a better understanding of French history and History of the French language from the Roman Empire to the European Community. We will partially use the textbooks: Bien dit III textbook and workbook (for language) and Discovering French III (for culture) Classroom supplies consist ofa binder with 3 dividers (1) Communication,Vocabulary and Grammar (2) French History, and, (3) Test/quiz. Students will also need different color ink pens and a composition book for daily routine writing. Tutoringand advanced French practice can be scheduled with French Honor Society students every day at lunch by registering in class. The website myhrw.com will also be used at home for online review. Your child username is ______; his/her passcode is______.

I would like to ask for your involvement in this educational process. Please, stress the importance of fully participating during class time, study notes every day, complete assignments due and practice independently online after each lesson.This year, your child will read an authentic French novel, create a chapter by chapter book report and present a summary to the class. He/she will also master 100% of the French grammar. It is a very important year! All home works, projects and tests are on my board and will be reminded with Learning a language is a long, continuous and everyday process and we just have a semester!

During the school year, feel free to contact me by calling the school office during my planning time (1stperiod) or by email . I will also contact you to keep you updated about our French activities at the school (see a draft of the French activities calendar in attachment). Please return the bottom of this letter with your preferred contact email address as well as comments or questions. Thank you in advance for your collaboration. I am looking forward to the wonderful opportunity to enthuse your child toward bilingualism.

Respectfully,

Roxane Coron
