ARE YOU A GORING SURGERY PATIENT ? ARE YOU UNSURE WHO YOUR USUAL DOCTOR IS?

We realise that there have been a number of recent changesat the Goring end of the Practice withDr Rhys Hamilton retiring after many years of service, Dr Sandhu leaving and now Dr Angela Adams on maternity leave. Dr Jane Capo-Bianco is currently providing maternity locum cover for us whilst Dr Adams is away.

Working alongside Dr Jane Capo-Bianco at the Goring Surgery are Dr Simon Morris, Dr Angela Lamb, Dr Tamara Cunningham and Dr Abi Gabel.

Dr Simon Morris, Dr Abi Gabel and Dr Jane Capo-Bianco operate a "buddy system" . This means that they work closely together, covering each other when one is on leave, and discussing more difficult patient concerns. So, if your usual doctor is Dr Morris and he is away, you might like to ask to see Dr Gabel or Dr Capo-Bianco.

Dr Angela Lamb and Dr Tamara Cunningham operate a similar "buddy" system.

Patients can chose to see any of the above named doctors at the Goring end of the Practice - please ask at reception next time you are at the Practice as to who your "usual" doctor is. You can ask to change this if you prefer.

OR alternatively, discuss this when you next see a doctor at the surgery.

NHS 111

It's not a 999 emergency, but you need medical help FAST.

There's nowa111 number to call which will get you through to a team of highly trained advisers, supported by experienced nurses.

It's a new number being introduced to help make it easier for you to access local health services. It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Free from landlines and mobile phones.

It will be available if you live in Oxfordshire, except border areas with phone numbers starting 0118, 01280 and 01844 (patients with these codes should contact NHS Direct on 0845 4647).

Your GP will still be available to advise on your healthcare needs 8.00 a.m. - 6.30 p.m. Monday to Friday

The NHS DIRECT telephone number (0845 4647) has ceased to be available to most Oxfordshire patients from Friday 25 March. However, patients living near the Oxfordshire boundary with dialling codes such as 0118 (who cannot access the NHS 111 service) may still be able to call NHS Direct.

The NHS direct website is still available to all patients

Sian Hayes, Nurse Practitioner

Sian Hayes has recently joined the Practice in the role of Nurse Practitioner. A Nurse Practitioner is a nurse who can see patients independently, without a doctor, and makes clinical decisions based on the history and examination of the patient. They can plan, treat and implement care.

Together withJenny O'Connor, our Lead Practice Nurse, Sian will be seeing some adults, children and babies who present with a minor illness or are suffering from a minor injury. The doctor might book you into one of our Nurse Minor Illness appointments if you are experiencing abdominal pain, flu-like symptoms, a skin condition or symptoms of an ear, throat, chest or genito-urinary infection.
