The College Merthyr Tydfil wishes to recruit part-time, hourly-paid Trainers, Assessors, and Internal Quality Assurers to work with its the Upskilling@Work (U@W) SO1 & SO2 operations for West Wales and the Valleys, which are part-funded by European Social funds as part of the European Structural Funds' programme for West Wales and the Valleys, 2014-2020. Since the operations are customer demand-led, we are seeking appropriate staff to be available to cover a range of hours during the day-time and evenings, and also potentially at weekends.

The posts will be for a fixed-term contract for the duration of the Upskilling@Work ESF-funded operations. Actual contracted hours will be based on customer demand and the successful candidates' capability and availability. These part-time, hourly-paid posts will commence on an hourly rate* of between £12.28 and £13.62 per hour, dependent on experience (* Derived from a full-time equivalent salary of £23,700 - £26,285).

The part-time, hourly-paid Trainers and Assessors will support the identification of the correct course of learning for participants, and then deliver the necessary, relevant assessment and/or provide internal quality assurance of VQs and/or vocational training courses to allow the participant to successfully achieve the appropriate qualification. The part-time, hourly-paid Trainers and Assessors will also provide personal support, advice, and guidance for the operations' participant's allocated to them.

The Internal Quality Assurers will ensure quality standards required by respective awarding bodies, the College Merthyr Tydfil, and the Upskilling@Work operations in respect to the delivery of accredited qualifications are achieved.

They will work closely with the Operations Manager, Employer Liaison Officer, and the wider Upskilling@Work team to ensure the aims of the operations are achieved.

Appointed candidates will be appropriately qualified, and as required, vocationally competent, with a proven track record and up-to-date experience of delivering training and/or assessing and/or quality assuring training courses, and/or VQs in one or more of the following fields * (Applicants need to list the fields in which they are qualified and/or vocationally competent on their application form):

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Assessor Trainer IQA

GRADE & SALARY: Grade 5 - Business Support Contract hourly paid

Responsible to: Operations Manager – Upskiling@Work Operations

Main Purpose of Job:

Principal Responsibilities and Duties:

To ensure that participants engaged in VQ programmes and /or training courses are provided with the training and support required to enable them to achieve a relevant, accredited qualification within a specified period of time.

Main Duties and responsibilities:

1. Attend meetings organised by the Operations Manager, and other such meetings relevant to the development, delivery, and assessment of qualifications;

2. Undertake personal, continuing professional development as agreed with the Operations Manager to support the effective delivery of the operations;

3. Effectively deliver relevant qualifications in a timely and to the highest level of quality;

4. Provide equal opportunities for participant engagement and assessment;

5. Conduct effective testing and/or assessment to identify the correct course of learning for participants;

6. Conduct an effective induction with each participant, including an explanation of the, delivery, assessment, internal quality assurance (IQA), and appeals processes;

7. Prepare and review delivery, assessment, and internal quality assurance (IQA) plans with participants;

8. Ensure that the awarding-body's standards are consistently met;

9. Provide feedback on progress and performance to participants;

10. Set up and maintain in an accurate and timely manner course file which includes:-

• Scheme / programme / course details

• Scheme of work

• Lesson plans

• Initial assessment documentation

• Participant records, including registration and enrolment details

• Records of attendance

• Participant progress records

• Minutes of meetings/IV reports/EV reports

11. Ensure that participants are enrolled on the relevant courses in an effective and timely manner;

12. Ensure that participants are registered with the awarding body in an effective and timely manner;

13. Ensure that participants’ registrations are current and up to date;

14. Set up participant records (including registration details (including end of registration date), progress records, etc.);

15. Carry out assessments at appropriate times within the course, as dictated by the Awarding Body;

16. Update participants’ progress records on a regular basis and ensure that the information is accurate;

17. Ensure that all quality standards required by The College Merthyr Tydfil, the Upskilling@Work operations, the lead beneficiary, the Welsh European office (WEFO), the relevant awarding body, and any other external body, are consistently met;

18. Complete all the required documentation associated with the qualifications and operation delivery to the required standards;

19. Participate fully in the Internal Quality Assurance processes of the College and awarding bodies;

20. Act as an Internal Quality assurer (IQA)* for other Trainer-Assessor / IQAs engaged with the operations (* subject to the individual being appropriately experienced and qualified, and also subject to demand and capacity);

21. In conjunction with the operations' Employer Liaison Officer, liaise with the employer in respect to matters relevant to the participant's progress;

22. Provide each participant with a copy of the appeals procedure and explain the procedure during Induction;

23. Prepare and complete portfolio of work checklists, if appropriate;

24. Carry out post-course reviews with participants at a frequency dictated by the operations;

25. Prepare, deliver and evaluate relevant training courses identified as being needed by participants or potential participants;

26. Identify any barriers individual participants may be faced with, and, as appropriate, upon recognition, support and guide participants to the relevant person within the organisation to ensure the participant is given the support necessary to succeed;

27. Ensure that the college’s health and safety policies and regulations are adhered to at all times and promote a culture that emphasizes the importance of the health and safety of all learners, staff and visitors to the college;

A proven thorough working knowledge of VQ systems, processes and procedures, including those associated with relevant quality requirements and standards.

Evidence of up-to-date knowledge and practice in VQ assessment and internal quality assurance.
Trainers - Evidence of up-to-date knowledge and practice in the delivery of training courses in post-compulsory education
Knowledge of the Wales’ European Social Fund programme 2014-2020, especially in respect to the ‘Skills for Growth’ aim.
Working appreciation of the Data Protection Act.
EXPERIENCE
Essential / Desirable
Assessors and/or IQAs -
Up-to-date experience of working with awarding bodies in the assessment and quality assurance of VQs.
Assessors and/or IQAs -

Trainers - Proven experience in developing and delivering training courses in post-compulsory education
Up-to-date experience of completing Awarding Body documentation.

TRAINING

Commitment to ongoing CPD. / Competent to deliver and/or internally quality assure qualifications at level 4 or above.
A Basic / Essential Skills qualification at level 2 or higher.
Counselling, coaching or mentoring qualification.
Post-graduate, or professional certificate, in Education (PGCE, or equivalent).
