dgar Jack Megee was born July 29, 1935, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was the ninth of twelve children(and a twin) born to Wiley B. and Laura R. (McMurtry) Megee. As a rambunctious youth, Jack enjoyed squirrel hunting, climbing trees, and generally goofing around with his family and friends. Jack talked about how he made toys from anything he could find. Wood-working was one of his favorite hobbies.
In school, Jack was a part of theGlee club and excelled at carpentry. He graduated from high school in Broken Arrow and later attended Wichita Technical Institute.
After school, he served two years in the Navy.When he was discharged, he moved to Wichita where he met his soon-to-be wife, Wynell.They had met through a youth group at Emanuel Baptist Church and were married on Valentine’s Day in the year of 1958.
Jack owned and operated his own pest control business in McPherson, Kansas for over thirty years. Jack loved being with his family and made it a priority to take his wife and kids on a vacation every year. Jack and his wife were active members of the Calvary Baptist Church, where he was a Deacon. He was also a former junior boys Sunday school teacher and music leader. He was a devout Christian who never failed to share his faith and always put others before himself.
Jack was an active part of the community and belonged to theChamberofCommerce and theOptimist Club,wherehewas

involved with the Junior Olympics and also sold trees every Christmas. Jack loved bowling and bowled in a league twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Jack was health conscious,and he walked three miles a day for over thirty years. Whenever the grandkids needed anything, he was always there. He loved attending their music concerts and sporting events, and also enjoyed traveling to Texas to see his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Jack loved wood-working,and after retirement, he made clocks and picture frames for family and friends. He was also a very handy person and made toy boxes for the grandkids, and anything that was needed. Jack also enjoyed taking coffee breaks with friends,LaVernWeyand and Roger Horn.
Jack and Wynell loved going to Branson to all the shows and driving around and looking at all the Christmas lights. The wonderful memories he has left behind for his wife and family will forever be treasured.
Jack entered peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at Promise Regional medical Center in Hutchinson. He was seventy-six.
Survivors include: his wife, Wynell of the home; two sons, Bradley Megee of Portland, OR and Bryan Megee (Esmeralda) of Corpus Christi, TX; two daughters, Deena Gabel (Chris) of McPherson, KS and Renée Unruh (Mike) of McPherson, KS; a brother, Russell Megee (Mary Ruth) of Tahlequah, OK; a sister, Judy Adsit of Cleveland, OK, ten grandchildren,Jennifer, Monica, Morgan, Olivia, Andrea, Reagan, Ashley, Madison, Travis, and Kaitlyn;and three great-grandchildren,Rafael, Genevieve, and Isabelle
He was preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters.
