Task 07: Researching Poems

Standards:

C.R3 Identify important components of free verse poetry (e.g. line breaks, stanza, writer’s voice, sensory detail or imagery, tone, symbolism, theme, personification, metaphor, simile, alliteration, onomatopoeia)

C.R4 Interpret and analyze the components used to convey meaning in free verse poetry

C.R5 Extract meaning (e.g. drawing conclusions, comparing to own experience, use prior knowledge and other texts to construct meaning)

Task 07:

Two to three-
60 minute sessions / Students will continue to read and reread poetry from books around the room. They will reflect on the questions and statements using the Research Chart (found below). Student research will be used to help them write their own poems in future tasks.
