SAN JOSE, Calif. (March 19, 2013) – The glory days of Hollywood musicals come to life in fresh and energetic new ways as BABES IN HOLLYWOOD: The Music of Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney, created by Vance Fulkerson and David Grapes, celebrates two all-time American icons. Presented by The Tabard Theatre Company April 12-May 5, 2013 at Theatre on San Pedro Square in downtown San Jose, BABES IN HOLLYWOOD features 44 standards from the American Songbook with all new arrangements and medleys by Andrew Philip Herron. BABES IN HOLLYWOOD is the final production of Tabard’s 12th season: TRUE Lives: Stories and Songs of Real People.
Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney starred in nine movie musicals between 1937 to 1948, and made famous many of the songs we all know and love like “That's Entertainment,” “Over the Rainbow,” and “I’m in the Mood For Love.”
“BABES IN HOLLYWOOD is a festival of song and dance,” said Cathy Spielberger Cassetta, Tabard’s executive director and the show's director, who is also choreographing a majority of the show. “Working on the songs and the terrific dance sequences has been a real joy, and I know our audiences will feel that way too. It’s truly a feel-good show, a celebration of some fabulous, fabulous music.” All-time classics such as “Strike Up The Band,” “For Me and My Gal,” “Old Devil Moon,” and “Swanee” will make sure that's true!
Designated Charity
For every production, Tabard donates a portion of its concessions proceeds to a local nonprofit. The designated nonprofit for BABES IN HOLLYWOOD is the Scholarship program of Conservatory at Tabard, the company's youth education program.

BABES IN HOLLYWOOD runs April 12 through May 5 at the unique, cabaret-style Theatre on San Pedro Square, 29 North San Pedro Street in downtown San Jose. All evening performances are Friday and Saturday at 8pm; Saturday matinees at 3pm, Sunday matinees at 2pm. Tickets are available at www.tabardtheatre.org, or by calling 800-838-3006. Cabaret Seating $35; Adults $29; Seniors $27; Full-time Adult Students $15; Youth/Kids $10. Advance purchase is strongly recommended.
