Folk Festival Society of Calgary - Potential Board Members - 2015

For members of the public who are interested in running for the Folk Festival Society of CalgaryBoard of Directors, please provide the following:

1. Why are you interested in joining the Board? What inspires you to volunteer your time?

2. What is your background and experience? What skill sets would you bring?

3. Have you attended the Festival? Or gone to Festival Hall events? Do you have a current membership with the Festival Society? (it is a requirement, please see eligibility below).

4. You may also include your resume or a short bio.

The next AGM will be scheduled for Tuesday April 7 at Festival Hall in the evening. Your membership eligibility will be reviewed and then recommended by the Board as per bylaws below.

At the AGM you will be required to be nominated by two members and give a two-minute speech about your interest in running for the Board.

The Folk Festival Vision

The Folk Festival Society of Calgary strives to enhance the quality of life in our community through the celebration of music from diverse cultural traditions, while allowing for growth to meet the changing needs of those traditions.

Membership eligibility

Folk Festival Standards of Excellence

Standard I: Leadership

Managers and Coordinators demonstrate support, commitment and involvement in assigned aspects of organizing and running the festival.

Standard II: Issues Management

Managers and coordinators identify and monitor issues important to the operations and reputation of the CFMF.

Standard III: Relationship Building

Managers and coordinators recognize that building and maintaining relationships of trust within the volunteer community is a critical component of CFMF Operations.

Standard IV: Strategy

Managers work with coordinators to develop a strategic plan for their crews and ensure that it is communicated to volunteers using position descriptions, time lines, check lists, and other tools to enhance volunteer satisfaction and productivity.

Standard V:Accountability

Managers and coordinators have specific roles and responsibilities for meeting objectives and monitor individual volunteers to ensure volunteer requirements are met.
