Focused, hardworking, happy children!!

Welly Walk Wash Out!

Friday’s Children In Need welly walk went with a ………………big splash! Unfortunately, the weather put a dampener on our whole school walk but it did not stop us having a wonderful time in the warm indoors. The children arrived in spots, spots and more spots! Throughout school there were spotty faces, spotty tee-shirts, spotty tights, spotty socks, spotty trousers, spotty onesies, spotty jumpers and even spotty hair! The Year 6 children were star bakers--making enough cakes to ‘sink a battleship’ and raised an amazing £105! Thank you to Nursery too who raised a record breaking £100+ making Gledhow’s grand total …………………….£738! The biggest total EVER! Thank you to everyone for such wonderful generosity.

Parking Problems

Leeds City Council Parking Attendants paid a visit this week to help us in our quest to make drop off and pick ups times safer for all our children and families. They pointed out to several drivers that their parking was unacceptable. They also informed some that ‘ stopping and just opening a car door on the zig zag yellow lines’ is ILLEGAL and a fixed penalty fine can be issued. They also stressed that pavement parking causes an obstruction to pedestrians and particular difficulties for blind and partially-sighted people, wheelchair and mobility scooter users and those with pushchairs and prams. The end of the week was certainly calmer- please can we make it a daily priority to park carefully, safely and legally!

Athletics

Congratulations to the Athletics team who competed in the first round of this year’s competition. Their opponents were All Saints Primary and Chapel Allerton Primary. Every single one of the team jumped, threw and ran their hearts out. The team spirit was HUGE- with everyone cheering and encouraging each competitor to do their very best. Gledhow came second- only 4 points behind Chapel Allerton. The team now go forward to the next round of the Plate Competition and Mrs Lynch has promised us a CUP! Watch this space!

ASAC Netball

On Friday 11 November, the ASAC Netball team, coached by Alison Taft and captained by Grace Goodwin (5SL), won their first netball match against Talbot by a whopping 8-1! A special mention should be made to Colette Buck and Amelia Paddy ( 5SL) who showed true grit and a fiercesome determination to win. Well done everybody. Ene Kitching, ASAC Cordinator.
