FLORIDA WEST COAST CHAPTER OF THE INSTITUTE OF INTERNAL AUDITORS COMPETITIVE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

The Florida West Coast Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors is sponsoring three competitive scholarships. Each scholarship recipient will have the option of receiving either a $500 check to be used for the pursuit of his\her university degree or a package covering the following expenses associated with taking the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) Examination:

  • Gleim CIA Review Course (Approximate Value is $825)
  • Application Fee for CIA Examination ($75)
  • CIA Examination Fee ($150 per part for a total value of $600)

Note: The non-cash elements of the award will be considered taxable income in the calendar year in which the award is redeemed.

The scholarships will be awarded at the Florida West Coast Chapter “Student Night” on June 26, 2012. Award winners selecting the CIA Examination reimbursement option will be provided a certificate to be redeemed with the chapter when the winners are prepared to begin their CIA Examination preparation and register for the exam. As a part of the scholarship, each recipient will be assigned a CIA Liaison who is a member of the Florida West Coast Chapter of the IIA. This chapter member will be a CIA and will assist the students in their study and in navigating the administrative requirements to sit for the exam. The purpose of the scholarships is to support deserving students while simultaneously promoting the internal auditing profession. To be eligible for the CIA Examination scholarship option a student must commit to sitting for all four parts of the CIA Examination within one year of receiving the award. All applicants must complete a short application, currently be enrolled at an AACSB accredited collegiate institution within in the local area (such as University of South Florida, University of Tampa, etc), and have an overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4 point scale). In addition, the student must be currently enrolled in the Internal/Operational Auditing (ACG 5675) course at the University of South Florida, or the student must have previously completed the course receiving a grade of B or better. Alternatively, a student could be enrolled in, or successfully completed with a grade of B or better, an equivalent course from any AACSB accredited collegiate institution.
