Components of FaculTea Professional Development Programs
Purpose / To bring faculty and advisors together in order to enhance advisors’ understanding of all academic disciplines,
with the goal of increasing the frequency of learning centered academic advising
Source Material/ Background / Literature on learning centered advising, AAC&U LEAP Goals,
institutional general education requirements, institutional values, mission and goals
Informational / Course offerings and content. Available degree, minor, and certificate options.
Relational / Spark relationships and reduce barriers between faculty and professional academic advisors. Practice narratives about classes and disciplines that advisors can share with students
Conceptual / Introduction and application of learning centered theory of academic advising

Faculty selection / More tricky: Undergraduate curriculum committee, standards committee, teaching award winners, department chairs or administrators, those doing interdisciplinary work / Easier: Department/program heads, faculty advisors
