Employer Self Service

We are pleased to announce that our Employer Self Service website is ready to Go Live!

This system allows employers access to their employees pension records over a secure web connection.

Employers can also make changes to the system, which can dramatically reduce the amount of paperwork and e-mail requests bouncing back from one side to the other.

Another time and resource saving benefit of ESS is that Employers can carry out their own Estimates (including early retirement / redundancy and Ill health estimates), which means that if you want some information regarding benefits and cost for a particular member, you can run it through the system, avoiding the usual ten day turnaround period if you had sent a request to the Pensions Unit.

This system is completely free.

Ahead of the implementation

To ensure everyone can get timely access to the new system, we are asking for all of our Pension Liaison / Client Liaison officer to nominate staff members who should be given access to the system.

We would like to get as many people (as appropriate) set up on the system as soon as possible (i.e. access granted and passwords generated), prior to the actual go live date. That should allow everyone who will be using the system to be able to get on to it from day one.

The implications

This document has been sent to you as the principal Pension Liaison / Client Liaison officer.

We would like you to nominate the people within your organisation who would benefit from access to the system.

Usually this will be a mix of Human Resources, Payroll and Finance staff.

It is important to note that the system does not distinguish between different roles, so it is crucial that access is only granted to those who are allowed to see this information from your perspective. Obviously, your users will only be able to see your employees and not other employers or their employees.

We will only amend or add users to your area of the site with your approval.

At any point in time, we may be asked by your audit department to provide a breakdown of the work carried out by individuals or departments, or for the security procedures we have in place for the testing and configuration of the system to be demonstrated. This information will not be unreasonably withheld.

There is an appendix at the back of this document and we would be very grateful if you could complete this as soon as you can and return it to the Pensions Unit. Please note, there is no compulsion for you to fill every space on the form as the amount of people who have access to the system will usually be in relation to the size of your staff profile.

The security and integrity of your employee data is of paramount importance to us, as we are sure it is to you.

HTTPS – SSL Encrypted

The Employer Self Service (ESS) website is encrypted using the industry standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) 256 bit encryption - offering the highest possible level of security. The encryption key length complies with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) recommendation.
