INTEGRATE OBJECTIVES:

3rd Grade: GLE--R3C Generalizing, main ideas, conclusions.

Spelling Dr, st, fr ft words. Adjectives.

4th Grade: GLEs--R1H, R3C—Main ideas, supporting details, draw conclusions.

Multiplication: sets x reps, parallel, perpendicular lines, sphere, cone shape.

5th Grade: GLE--R1H compare contrast, reflect, analyze, summarize.

Change from a $10 bill. Multiplication: sets x reps.

INITIAL ACTIVITY:

Day One: Introduce Cross-over Dribble. 3rd grade—spell dribble .

3 Lines of Zig-Zag cones to practice cross-over dribble. 3rd-5th---how would you figure out

how many cones you go around if you go around 5 cones each time and you go 4 times?

Which operation would you perform?? MULTIPLICATION---give another example…

Day Two: Integratedobjectives warm up:

All grades: What was the main idea when it comes to playing defense in basketball?

Supporting details? How?

Tell a story of a kid who does everything wrong regarding health and then ask for the main

point. What are the supporting details of the main point they chose?

Compare and contrast the boy in the story with your lifestyle. 3rd—adjectives to describe

his lifestyle.

PARTNER UP---Grab a sphere shaped object from the basket.

one partner go to the orange line the other go to a parallel line—5 passes

one partner to perpendicular line—dribble around your partner and back.

Partner up at cone shaped object—one partner dribble from ahead while

other partner runs and catches up, then defends.

Quick stretch and squats—which muscles are you warming up?

ACTIVITY:

Day One:4 lines—quick agility drills

last one should be a shuffle. CONTRAST SHUFFLE WITH CARIOCA.

***3rd—spell Scoot (your back foot when you shuffle)*** Spell Left.

Day One: Introduce defensive shuffle. COMPARE DEFENSIVE SHUFFLE TO PLAYING GOALIE IN

SOCCER or HOCKEY. Why not let your feet cross????

Duel drill—practice cross-over and shuffle with partner.

Day Two: Vertical jump testing. Record vertical jump.

GYMNASTICS (2nd day of the week)

GAME SKILLS:

Discuss how to position yourself between your man and the basket with one eye on the ball at all times.

Have a few students demonstrate while you hold the ball.

DAY TWO: Add the dribbling vs. one defender in the lane. Five seconds to get around defender and get

to baseline.

SPECIAL GAMES (most likely second day)

Review defensive positioning.

Introduce Basketball Chaos at all 4 baskets.
