Bray Area Partnership Enterprise Programme

The BAP Enterprise Programme provides tailored services involving information, advice, mentoring and a range of training modules by way of supporting unemployed people to pursue self-employment options including the establishment of social enterprises.

Our enterprise development work is funded primarily from the Social Inclusion and Community Development Programme (SICAP) and is delivered through our social enterprise company – Bray Community Enterprise.

Post:Enterprise Development Officer

Reporting to:Enterprise Co-Ordinator or other designated Bray Area Partnership Officer

Location:4 Prince of Wales Terrace, Bray, Co. Wicklow orother offices as may be designated by BAPtime to time.

Contract Period:Part-timefixed-term contractposition (three days/21 hours per

week) to end of December’15, having a starting salary of €378per week. A continuing contractof employment may be offered for the

periodpost December ’15 and this will include an employer’s

pension contribution to an approved scheme. The hours of work are

9am to5pm per day. It is expected that the work will require

flexibility in attending meetings or working outside these hours, in

order to efficiently perform the duties of the post.

Main Job Function:

  • To implement the Partnership’s enterprise development strategy in line with annual action plans.
  • To provide a one to one enterprise support service to unemployed people seeking to progress to self-employment.
  • To contribute to coherent and integrated quality service delivery to the target groups.

Key Tasks:

  • Provision of one to one support to individuals seeking to progress to self employment primarily through theBack to Work Enterprise Allowance and Short Term Enterprise Allowance schemes (BTWEA and STEA schemes), and on-going support to new businesses established.
  • Encouraging and facilitating new and innovative small business start-ups, including community based social enterprises.
  • Working with target group individuals on the preparation of business plans and funding applications with respect to the BTWEA, STEA and other
  • Administration of theBTWEA, STEA schemes locally
  • Preparation and delivery of a range of training modules for our Start Your Own Business courses.
  • Maintaining accurate and up to date records of case load clients.
  • Liaising with Department of Social Protection Case Officers in provision of enterprise supports.
  • Development and Support of the Bray Area Partnership Early Stage Entrepreneur Network.
  • Co-ordination with other agencies in the delivery of range of supports for start-up businesses
  • Preparation of regular reports on services provision and performance indicator information.
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Person Specification:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills ( written and oral)

Excellent computer skills

Excellent organisational skills

2 years experience of workingin a developmental role with business start-ups

Knowledge and understanding of the tax system

Knowledge of regulations relating to sole trader and business set up

2 years experience of delivering enterprise training to target groups

Capacity to work to deadlines

Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative

A relevant third level qualification is desirable
