SCHOLARSHIP GRANT COMPETITION
THE EL PASO SERGEANTS MAJOR ASSOCIATION IS CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS FOR THE CURRENT ACADEMIC YEAR.
APPLICANTS MUST BE:
THE DEPENDENT OF AN ACTIVE DUTY OR RETIRED ENLISTED (ANY U.S. MILITARY BRANCH) RESIDING IN EL PASO OR SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES.
A GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR WITH A “B” AVERAGE OR ABOVE.
PERSONS INTERESTED IN APPLYING SHOULD SEND A #10 SELF ADDRESSED STAMPED ENVELOPE TO THE ADDRESS ABOVE, ATTN: SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE.
AN APPLICATION FORM AND LETTER DETAILING REQUIREMENTS WILL BE SENT TO THE APPLICANT. THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS TO BE RECEIVED IS SUNDAY, APRIL 30, 2017.

TO ALL APPLICANTS:
1. This is the eligibility criteria for the El Paso Sergeants Major Association scholarship grant. This grant will be used for tuition only and will be issued directly to the school.
a. You must be the dependent of an active duty or retired enlisted Soldier (of any US branch of service) and you must be a resident of El Paso or surrounding communities.
b. You must be a graduating high school senior, of the current academic year, maintaining a “B” average or above.
c. You must be planning to attend a four (4) year college/university.
d. You must not be in receipt of a full scholarship.
e. If selected for this grant, you must furnish a letter of acceptance from the college/university you will attend.
2. You must submit the following documents for the grant competition:
a. Copy of your academic transcripts and latest SAT/ACT scores.
b. An essay describing your educational and professional goals. (Typed & double spaced, not to exceed two pages).
c. Three letters of recommendation, from someone other than a relative.
d. Completed application form signed by you and your sponsor.
e. Photocopy of your dependent id card (front & back). It must be legible.
f. A Biographical summary listing your academic/scholastic, cultural committees and/ or clubs that you are a member of, community activities of a human relations nature that you participate in on a regular basis, any special talents such as singing, dancing, musical instrument, oral speaking, and athletics.
g. A copy of your letter of acceptance from the college/university you will attend.
3. We must receive your data not later than Sunday, 30 April 2017. Mail to the address above, ATTN: Scholarship Committee.
