  1. David Steele called the meeting to order at approximately 10:00 a.m.
  1. Approval of the Agenda for the April 20, 2015 meeting of the Education Steering Committee

Marketta Damonte made a motion to approve the agenda. Al Winkeljohn seconded the motion. After discussion, the motion carried. The Agenda was amended to remove the last presenter, Stephen Foster, who was not able to attend.

  1. One-Time Course Approvals
  1. Claire Conrad, representing the Greater Albuquerque Association of Realtors, (GAAR), presented Smart Growth in the 21st Century, for four (4) credits in the Education category.After the presentation, Bill Hallett made a motion to recommend the course for 4 hours of education category CE. Marketta Damonte seconded the motion. After discussion, the motion passed to recommend to the NMREC for approval.
  1. Meg Garrahan, representing the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors and the Commercial Association of Realtors - New Mexico, presented 2106 SIOR Spring World Conference, for four (4) educational category credits. Bill Hallett made a motion that the course be recommended for 4 hours of education category CE. Marketta Damonte seconded the motion. After discussion, the motion passedto recommend to the NMREC for approval.
  1. Meg Garrahan, representing the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and the Commercial Association of Realtors - New Mexico (CARNM), presented Hold versus Dispose Analysis for Commercial Real Estate, for seven (7) CE credit hours in the Education category. Bill Hallett made a motion that the course be recommended for 7 hours of education category CE. Roberta Hayes seconded the motion. After discussion, the motion passed to recommend to the NMREC for approval.
  1. Meg Garrahan, representing the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and the Commercial Association of Realtors - New Mexico (CARNM), presented Site to Do Business, for six (6) CE credit hours in the Education category. Bill Hallett made a motion that the course be recommended for 6 hours of education category CE. Kathy Segura seconded the motion. After discussion, the motion passedto recommend to the NMREC for approval.
  1. Instructor Approval Presentations
  1. Michael Glass, presented for approval to teach the Mandatory Class. Mr. Glass clarified that he was aware of the upcoming change in the rules and the replacement of the 8 hour Mandatory Class once every three years, with the annual 4 hour Core Class and was wanting to accommodate the need for meeting the current requirements for licensees in his brokerage pending ratification and implementation of the new rule changes. Al Winkeljohn moved to recommend approval to the NMREC. It was seconded by Kathy Segura. After discussion the motion passedto recommend to the NMREC for approval. Bill Hallett, and Bill McCoy recused themselves.
  1. Minutes and Project Updates

Todd Clarke gave a summary on questions pertaining to the pathway to be certificated as an instructor to the new Core Course and presented a road map detailing the relationship between the Boot Camp requirement, the Pilot Course, and how Mandatory Instructors will be “grandfathered.”

Claire Conrad gave a summary of the progress of the development of an online version of the Core Course by the students at the University of New Mexico.

There being no further business. The meeting was adjourned at 12:45 PM.
