ED Club Activities for the academic year 2015-16

  • The Entrepreneurship Development Club activities in St. Xavier’s College, Aluva for the academic year 2015-16 was inaugurated by the Deputy Director of District Industries Centre, Sri. Biju P Abraham at Mother Teresa Seminar Hall on 14. 07. 2015. Vice principal Rev. Sr. Benedicta presided over the function. Assistant District Industrial Officer , Sri. Saji S and Head of the Department of Commerce felicitated the function.

An interaction with a women entrepreneur Smt. BinuPhilippose also was arranged followed by the inauguration. She is the Managing Director of SevanaMedineedsPvtLtd, and a former student of this college during 1985-87 Pre Degree Batch. Industrial extension Officer Sri. Lawrence M, members also were present in the function

  • A Business Awareness class was organized in Commerce Seminar Hall on 29-07-2015 from 1pm to 3 pm. The class was led by Mr. Narayanan Potty , a soft skill trainer for the rising entrepreneurs . 50 students attended the class which was very informative on building entrepreneurs.
  • ED club in association with District Industries Centre, Aluva organized a one day seminar on “starting micro enterprises” to the members of Kudumbasree, Aluva. 28 participants were attended the programme on 13-08-15. The seminar was led by the District Industrial Extension Officer Sri. Lawrence Mathew. The seminar was inaugurated by Sri Saji S and Associate Professor of Commerce Department Dr. Mercy Varghese presided over the function. This seminar enlightened the various types of tiny enterprises that can be undertaken by women.
  • The ED club staff co-ordinator Ms. Shereena John and two student co-ordinators Ms. Amrutha Mohan & Anupama of II B Com have attended a two days seminar organized by KIED (Kerala Institute of Entrepreneurship Development in association with Higher Education Department from 03-04-15 to 04.04.15.
  • ED Club Organized an Industrial Visit to CIFT (Central Institute of Fisheries & Technology) On 22.01.2016. Senior Scientist Dr.GeorgeNinan led an awareness session on the functioning, assistance & technology provided by CIFT to the budding entrepreneurs .The session was very informative and after which students got the opportunity to visit the pilot plants within the CIFT premises ,functioned by new entrepreneurs. 49 students and 3 teachers participated for the same.
  • ED Club in association with KITCO Ltd (formerly Kerala Industrial and Technical Consultancy Organisation) )organized 3 days Non residential Entrepreneurs Awareness Camp from 27 January to 29 January 2016 to the B Sc Physics students. 74 students were participated for the same. The camp was very effective in building entrepreneurial skills among students. They were given motivational classes, interaction with a women entrepreneur, Industrial Visit to Unitek UPS manufacturing Unit , DIC schemes to the entrepreneurs. Also there was a session on entrepreneurial traits by Dr. K C Chandrasekharan, who was the former Managing Director of Techno Park. Participants were given the certificates and they evaluated the seminar as very informative and effective.

ED Club Activities for the academic year 2014-2015.

  1. ED Club organized a one day workshop on “ Hand Embroidery through painting” on 26.06.2014. The class was led by Mrs. Vasantha. 31 students participated for the same .
  1. On 05.08.2014, conducted an industrial visit to Kitex Ltd, Kizhakkambalam. 120 students participated and 4 teachers accompanied them. We could get the opportunity to understand the operations of Kitex Weaving Unit and Anna Aluminium plant.
  1. On entrepreneurs day September 12,2014 two faculties and two students attended the Young Entrepreneurs Summit (YES) in Adlux International Convention Centre , Angamaly. The convention was very informative as there was interactive sessions with the successful entrepreneurs and we could realize the new trends in technological and traditional innovatives.
  1. On September 30,2014 ED Club organized a Craft Competition in association with Women Cell. An overwhelming response was there for the same and 45 students from different departments participated.
  1. On 08.10.2014, arranged a visit to a heritage home “village” which is run by a woman entrepreneur who is our former student. 131 students and 4 teachers participated. Students have got the opportunity to interact with the entrepreneur ie how to convert a business idea into a reality.
  1. As part of the Academic week Celebrations, ED Club is organized a session on “Student Entrepreneurship “ by Mr. Ajayakumar , the coordinator of KIED on 29.06.2015.
