  1. ACCESS CONTROL OF EXTERIOR DOORSwent ‘live’ June 30, 2017.

Dear Members of the OVC Community:

We are working to streamline the “rules” and “groups” regarding access control of exteriordoors. We believe this approachwill result infewer scheduling issues andless risk of overlap and error in the door opening. For the exterior doorsof the main OVC complex (Buildings #49, 44, 45, 40, 39, 03, 77, 89) thedoors will openMonday to Fridayfrom 8 am - 6 pm. Card access will be granted to all OVC staff, students and faculty. Exceptions to these rules will be:

OVC Health Sciences Centreentrances - will open and close on the HSC hours of operation schedule (this will include the exterior door to the stairwell to the second floor of the Stewart building as there is access to the LA reception from this door).

4 entrances will remain locked at all times but all will have card access

- 44 by the main shipping and receiving dock

- 44 side entrance to Companion Animal Hospital

- 03 stairwell to the learning commons (new access point to temporary classroom in the learning commons)

- 45 Ruminant Field Service entrance

Please remember to carry your iClass identification card with you at all times to ensure you can enter the building and report any lost/stolen cards to the Registrar’s office immediately so that access can be cancelled for that card.

As currently occurs, if special weekend or evening events are going on we can add special access for that event.

  1. Graduate Students Appreciation and Welcome! Mark your calendars.

Where: Bullring

Time: 7:00 pm

REMINDERS:

  1. A new column in the OVC Bulletin has been created to promote OVC research externally and celebrate that research internally. As a bit of a background, there is no system that the communication team can search through to find out about recently published research here at U of G. We have had to rely on word of mouth. I think this is a good first step, but I really want faculty and grad students to understand if they have not been included it is not intentional and encourage them to send links to their publications so we can include it in the following week.

Jane Dawkins, Marketing Communications Officer
