Words To Know

Opponent-team or person you are playing against Stationary-not moving

Deflect-to change the direction of an object by touching it Retrieve-to get or have

Blocker-an object that is used to get in the way of something

Half Court-one half of the playing area OR the blue line in the middle of the basketball court

Set Up

Ultra Skin balls are placed at half court, and the class is divided in half.

All players put one hand on the back wall of their court.

Game Play

The object of the game is to get the all of the opponents’ players out of the game. Players throw the ball to get their opponents out.

When the whistle sounds players may run to the half court line and retrieve as many Ultra Skin balls for their team as they can.

For all Battle Ball games, a player is “out” if they;

1. step on/ over the half court line, or reach over the line to take an Ultra Skin ball from the opponent’s side of the court

2. are hit by a thrown Ultra Skin ball, including attempting to catch a thrown Ultra Skin ball

3. throw an Ultra Skin ball that is caught by an opponent before it hits anything else

4. hit a stationary player in the head with the Ultra Skin ball

5. are hit in the head when they duck or try to avoid getting hit

For safety, you should raise your hand to indicate to the other team that you are out, and that they do not need to throw at you.

Only one person can get out on a throw. If more than one player is hit by the same throw, only the first player to be hit is out.

If an Ultra Skin ball hits a player and bounces into the air, the player who has been hit may catch the ball before it hits anything or

anyone to save themselves from going out. The thrower of the ball is out instead.

The Ultra Skin ball may be used as a blocker to deflect balls that are thrown by your opponent. Once a throw is deflected, it does not

matter if it is caught or hits another player. No one can get out by a deflected ball.

When a player is out, they must sit on the bleachers until they are allowed back in the game, or until the game is over.

Players who are out may not get up/ reach out to give Ultra Skin balls to their team, or to stop them from rolling to the opponent’s

side. If a player who is out touches a ball, all of the teams Ultra Skin balls must be given to the other team.

If a player catches a thrown Ultra Skin ball, all of their seated teammates may come back into the game.

ANY PLAYER WHO TELLS THEIR SEATED TEAM MATES TO RE-ENTER THE GAME WILL BE RULED OUT FOR INTERFERING WITH THE GAME. ONLY THE TEACHER CAN ALLOW PLAYERS TO RE-ENTER!!

No student should have more than one Ultra Skin ball at a time. Share with your team mates.

Be honest! If you can’t tell if you’ve been hit, you can’t play Battle Ball.

The game is over when all players from one team are out.

When the game is over, the whistle is blown to indicate the end of play. DO NOT throw Ultra Skin balls after the whistle sounds.

The Ultra Skin balls are placed at the half court line to begin the next game.

When it is time to dress in students should collect the Ultra Skin balls and return them to the teacher IMMEDIATELY.

STUDENTS WHO DO NOT FOLLOW GAME RULES, PLAY IN AN UNSAFE MANNER, OR DISPLAY POOR SPORTSMANSHIP (IN THEIR WORDS OR ACTIONS) WILL RECEIVE AN AGENDA COMMENT OR OTHER CONSEQUENCES IF NECESSARY.

SAFETY MUST COME FIRST!
