In the list of ships taken up in the season 1760-61, Hume is listed as commander of the Fox, 499 tons burthen, to the Coast and Bay. Co to Fort St George, 30 December 1760.

Again listed as Captain of the Fox, this time to Bombay and China. Co. to Fort St George, 21 November 1764.

Mentioned in a list of gentlemen at Canton entrusted with the management of the Company’s shipping there, 1771. Those gentlemen appointed residents in China, for 1772. Edward Phipps, Francis Wood, William Rous, John Walton, Thomas Bevan, James Bradshaw, William Henry Pigou as well as Hume, who appears first in the list. Co. to FsG, 30 November 1770.

Co letter to FsG, 11 November 1768. Says they have entertained 31 ships for the Company’s service that season, and provide a list. Hume is listed as capt of the Fox, to Bombay.

AH appears first in a list of gentlemen appointed supercargoes in China for the management of the 15 Co ships consigned there that season. Along with Francis Wood, Benjamin Torin, Stephen Devisme, Edward Phipps, William Harrison, MatthreRaper, John Bradby Blake, James Bradshaw. Bradshaw, Blake, Wood, Bevan, Harrison, Raper and Hume to be residents.

TH to the Directors, 10 November 1731.

TH (refers to himself as one of your supercargoes going to China) asking Co permission to take out 609 Taels of foreign silver, ‘The property of Sugua alias Comshaw’s Merchant in Canton, to be delivered to him for his Accot, It being a Debt I recovered for him in Flanders’. Note on back of letter: says the request was granted.

ff. 15-16v:

Sends a request to the Co to reconsider an issue relating to some diamonds that were sent from Fort St George. It seems the Co had initially refused Hall and Joseph Tulley to receive the stones; Hall is saying here that they should be allowed and asks the Co to reconsider.
