Purpose of job
Lead the marketing and promotion of the RNIB’s proposition –Confident Living- and managing the marketing and promotion of RNIB’s Specialist Services. This will include raising public awareness of the RNIB as a thought leader in accessible technology. It involves managing the planning, design and delivery of marketing, promotions and communications across various formats and channels to all existing and prospective users, listeners and customers of services and products. As well as building awareness, informing, stimulating demand and encouraging increased usage, defining clear simple pricing and bundling where appropriate, and to build insights and understandings of current and future needs which can help improve and refine RNIB’s products and specialist services.

Main accountabilities
- Create marketing and communications campaigns to position the RNIB as a thought leader in accessible technology.
- Develop marketing plans and resources to support service and product activity, ensuring all actions and activities contained therein are carried out to the deadlines specified.
- Oversee the implementation of campaigns, promotions, events, digital marketing, editorial, outreach, social networks, focus groups, trade marketing, research, partnerships and PR to support B2C and B2B products and services.
- Monitor all expenditure and compare this against allocated budget and against commercial revenues generated by the various service and product types, and to continually look for consistent improvement in the return on investment and impact.
- Work with and support the wider marketing team by giving them the information as needed to fit into their campaigns, tools systems and processes to maximise research and ROI on the combined spend, and to look for opportunities to include their messaging in marketing B2B and B2C campaigns when appropriate.
- Ensurethat the blind and partially sighted community, listeners and customers are regularly engaged with to provide direct feedback and insights of their user experience.
- Provide strategic direction to the marketing and promotion of RNIB Specialist Services.
- Lead on developing integrated marketing strategies to acquire new customers (people affected by sight loss) to RNIB.
- Lead on creating a thematic approach of communications to members of the RNIB communities ensuring they know about and can access the full range of RNIB products and services.
- Work with cross-functional business areas to implement marketing campaigns and to provide marketing advice and support to other services, departments and teams.
- Lead on developing partnerships with other organisations to promote our communications to customers e.g. other charities, coalition groups and local societies.
- Ensure RNIB has effective presence at external events and conferences which drive potential customers to RNIB.
- Lead on planning, forecasting and managing budgets for customer communications and marketing under the guidance of the Head of Marketing.
- Work with the Head of Marketing to develop and monitor an annual marketing communications plan that sets out the charities priorities on owned and earned channels.
- Lead on measurement and evaluation of all communications and marketing activity (both digital and print based).
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post.

Specialist knowledge, skills and experience
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Marketing and / or a professional chartered marketer (CIM or similar) or equivalent professional experience
- Direct experience of managing multiple elements of the marketing mix in both B2B and B2C environments, able to show evidence of personally driven outstanding results
- Proven expertise in Customer segmentation with a demonstrable commitment to digital marketing
- Confident, driven and dynamic leader with a rigorous focus on timely delivery and execution
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to spot and deliver innovative creative opportunities that deliver strong ROI
- An understanding of specialist education and/or social care would be desirable
