BRETÓ DE LA RIBERA

I have chosen Bretó, because it is the place were live my grandparents and were I spend my holidays.

Bretó is a village in Zamora. I like it because it’s rural. There aren’t many people in winter, but in summer there are people from every country of Spain.

It has a very old church were the old people go to pray. There is a river, but nowadays, you can’t swim due to the rubbish. Also there is a forest were the hunters go to hunt hares, rabbits, quails, partridge, and sometimes foxes and wild boars were there is a hunt.

In the outskirts of the village there are the ruins of a monastery. There is a legend that says that there is a subterranean passage that joins this monastery with another one of other village. But they haven’t proved that this legend is true.

I have some especial memories of Bretó: The sounds of the dogs remained me when there is a hunt’s day how all the dogs of the village go to the forest with its owners.

- Smell: When at 2 o’clock I went to my grandmother’s hose and she is preparing the lunch.

- Sights: all the animals in the back part of my grandmother’s hose: chickens, dogs, doves, a jenny…

An anecdote:

One day, a man gave my father a puppy. The first days, she was with us in Coslada. All the nights, my father wakes up at 3 o’clock because Perla, that is the name of the dog, was hungry.

After a week, we went to my village, because Perla is a hunting dog. So we could train her better there, in the village. The first weeks, she only wanted to play and she was always afraid from the shots. But now, Perla is the best dog of hunting that I never had seen.

I love playing with her and go for a walk with her.
