SPEECH/LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's degree in speech and language pathology from an accredited college or university.
  2. Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Speech Correction preferred and/or

current Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

  1. Evidence of successful clinical experience in communication disorders and language development at

the school-age level.

  1. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with people of all persuasions associated

with special education.

  1. Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with parents.
  2. Must pass criminal background check as required by School Safety Legislation.

ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  1. Organizing language development program for severely emotionally-impaired students and other

related disabilities.

  1. Instructing individuals in both large and small group language activities.
  2. Performing speech and language diagnostic testing, and timely written evaluation reports.
  3. Writing IEP goals and objectives and prescriptive activities based upon results of diagnostic testing.
  4. Acting as a resource person in the area of speech and language development and assistive

technology to the teachers and the program.

  1. Communicating and working with parents with respect to student's language strengths and

weaknesses.

  1. Evidence of successful clinical experience in communication disorders and language development at

the school-age level.

  1. Working effectively with a multi-disciplinary team.
  2. Accept other duties as assigned by principal or administrator.
