Job Title: Financial StewardshipCoordinator
Accountable To: Associate Pastor – Financial Stewardship Ministries
Status:Salaried, Full-time, Director Level 2
Job Titles Supervised: N/A
Purpose: To serve the New Life Church family and the Colorado Springs community by administering the church’s financial stewardship programsas well as offering information and compassionate support to those who come to us for assistance
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform a wide variety of tasks utilizing a thorough working knowledge of the policies and procedures of New Life Church, and accurately representing the vision and values of Financial Stewardship Ministries on a daily basis.
- Serve as the intake coordinator for all requests for financial assistance that come to New Life Church by promptly reviewing all applications and responding appropriately in a timely manner.
- Providing administrative support, as needed, to Pastor Amie Streater.
- Recruiting, training and coordinating volunteers who wish to serve New Life Church in the area of benevolence, financial coaching and office support.
- Pairing church members in need of financial support with appropriate coaches and mentors, and monitoring the success of those relationships on an ongoing basis.
- Maintaining excellent relationships with volunteers and church members participating in our ministry.
- Coordinating New Life’s benevolence ministry with local utilities and social service agencies.
- Seeking ongoing education in the area of financial coaching and benevolent care.
- Ensuring that volunteer benevolence counselors have the best possible training through ongoing education, training and pastoral support.
- Being available, if needed, to teach classes aimed at helping New Life’s most vulnerable members understand that God has a plan for their lives and their finances, and teaching them practical strategies to become financially independent.
- Working closely with other New Life ministries including Women’s, Groups and Generations to ensure we are serving these members well in the area of financial stewardship.
- Consistently reviewing benevolence policies and other ministry guidelines and suggesting changes, as necessary, to meet the changing needs of New Life Church.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with outside social service agencies to ensure New Life Church is operating within its desired scope in the Colorado Springs community.
- Updating and maintaining necessary application and referral forms and other documentation as required by New Life Church.
- Understanding and following state, federal and IRS regulations in regards to benevolence in order to assist the church’s senior leadership in protecting the legal and financial interests of New Life Church.
- Maintaining a database of financial assistance applications and disbursements to ensure benevolence stays within budget and also to provide informational support to other New Life staff members.
- Provide administrative and office support as needed to Financial Stewardship Ministries.
- Support New Life Church with your tithe.
- Attend regular staff meetings, department meetings and additional meetings when requested.
- Other duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
Education & Experience: High School diploma or the equivalent, some college preferred.Must complete Financial Peace University within 90 days of hire, through independent study if necessary. The stewardship coordinator must also have personal experience with financial stewardship and feel comfortable sharing personal stories and testimonies.

- The ability to prayerfully make tough decisions quickly without excessive input or oversight.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with a variety of software applications and databases, such as the MS Office suite of applications – Word, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint and Excel. Must have familiarity, experience and ability to navigate and produce documents within the above mentioned software applications as well as strong Internet researching skills.
