Barefoot Summer Jam 2005 Step Show Weekend

Rules & Regulations

1)  All teams must report to all scheduled meetings and practice sessions on time.

2)  If a team member is found to be grossly un-sportsmanlike causing a disruption to the show, the team will be disqualified. This will include any profanity, nudity, vulgar and especially excessive gyrations, humping the floor, eating pie etc. or unnecessary disrespect shown to anyone, or any organization on or off stage by any team member, will result in disqualification.

3)  No pyrotechnics may be used in your show.

4)  Undergraduate, graduate and mixed teams (undergraduates and graduates) are eligible to compete.

5)  Each team will have a total of 15 minutes to perform; this includes both the introduction and exit steps. A total of five (5) points will be deducted from the score of each team that exceeds the 15 minute allotment. This deduction will be assessed by the Score Keeper only once per team.

6)  Each team must have all music cued on one CD. A person should be assigned to instruct the sound person as to when music is needed during the show. If lighting cues vary during your show, each team should also have a stage/lighting coordinator.

7)  Only the step team performers and music coordinator will be admitted into the Step Show and After-Party at no charge.

8)  Members of your organization or local council other than those specified to perform may not be backstage or on stage any time during the show.

9)  Anyone found attempting to sneak people, alcohol, drugs or other contraband into the show will have their team forfeited from the competition.

10) The decision of the judges is final.

11) No use of fire, helium balloons or confetti is permitted. The NPHC must approve all other props and special requirements. Props and all special requirements must be submitted for approval 48 hours prior to the event.

12) The Nassau Bahamas Council of the National Pan Hellenic Council, its member organizations or affiliates, will not be held responsible for the actions of the contestants.

13) Each team will be required to include a traditional step in the show and include information about the purpose of their respective organizations.

14) Five (5) points will be deducted for profanity and sexually explicit material by each judge.

One judge from each of the nine (9) NPHC or affiliate organizations will judge all performances. The high and low score will be eliminated and the highest remaining total score wins less any deductions.

Barefoot Summer Jam Step Show Contract

The Nassau, Bahamas Council of the National Pan Hellenic Council, (Hereinafter "NPHC") and ______(Hereinafter "Step Team").

1. Whereas the NPHC agrees to plan, organize and execute a step show to be called the Barefoot Summer Jam 2005 Step Show (hereinafter called "Step Show") to be held at the venue and on the date provided to the selected teams.

2. The NPHC agrees to provide the following Step Show prizes per fraternity/sorority category to the first place International team:

§  $1500 to the first place fraternity (non-local)

§  $1500 to the first place sorority (non-local)

Should a local team win the first place prize for either category, they will not be eligible to receive the cash award.

3. The NPHC agrees to provide a suitable venue for the Step Show competition including but not limited to efficient sound equipment, secure staging, staffing and all other production requirements to facilitate the successful presentation of the program.

Step Team Agrees:

1)  To adhere to the Rules, Regulations and Judging Criteria as stated in the "Step Show Information Package" which is part of this agreement.

2)  To perform at the Step Show according to the Step Show Judging Criteria as stated in the "Step Show Information Packet."

3)  To arrive at practice sessions and performances as indicated by the NPHC.

4)  To return the contract as per the stated deadlines. Information can be mailed to the address provided.

5)  The Step Team represents by the signature below that they are authorized to enter into this performance agreement by both their university/college (if applicable) and affiliate organizations.

6)  The Step Team represents by the signature below that they grant NPHC the rights to use their image for use in video production and promotional materials related to Barefoot Summer Jam activities and the Nassau, Bahamas National Pan Hellenic Council. By granting permission, participating individuals release NPHC from all liability.

7)  All members of the step team are active members of a financial council of the NPHC.

8)  The Step Team assumes all risk in its performance of all activities authorized by this agreement and is responsible for all actions whatsoever committed by your team that may cause harm or injury to persons or property.
