Overall Objectives:
Julia’s House is launching a three-year organisational strategy, making it an exciting time to be part of the charity. The strategy is based on developing our services across two counties – Dorset and Wiltshire, continuing to provide respite care to children and their families. We have big aspirations to ensure no child is turned away from our care and are looking to develop our fundraising team, to help us achieve our ambitious goals.
Reporting to the Community Fundraising Manager, you will work within the Community Fundraising team and will implement the community fundraising programme for Julia’s House. Your objective will be to service third party community fundraisers, Friends Groups, and Julia’s House campaigns and events.
You will also:
- Implement supporter journeys for all community fundraising supporters
- Manage effective relationships with community fundraisers, Friends Groups, and volunteers.
- Support Julia’s House Community Fundraising by responding positively to offers of help from the DorsetCommunity andensuring supporter retention and growth, through developing relationships to engage support and encourage further ongoing support. Contribute to developing and servicing events, campaigns and initiatives.
- Support existing Friends groups and develop new groups that will act as local representatives and organise Community fundraising on a sustainable basis.
- Assist in the recruitment new community fundraising volunteers to assist the community fundraising team and friends groups.
- Represent Julia’s House at events and by giving talks and presentations about the work of the Charity.
- To achieve income targets for Community fundraising.
- To contribute to developing other donors and other areas of fundraising for Julia’s House as required.
- Generate leads for community fundraising team
Area of Responsibility / Key Tasks
MANAGEMENT & SUPPORT OF COMMUNITY FUNDRAISING
Retention and growth of community fundraising / Support groups across the broad spectrum of Community in the specified region that you manage.
Develop and implement a strong supporter journey plan for all supporters, which ensure a seamless transition from supporter acquisition to retention.
Maximise supporter retention by ensuring that excellent stewardship and donor care is provided at all times, to community fundraisers, through presentations, fundraising guidance. Also brief and equip appropriate representatives (volunteers) to undertake such activity.
Develop & Provide literature and display materials, as necessary and provide a presence at Community events, including giving talks if appropriate and provide relevant supporting administration.
Ensure community fundraisers are offered online support through the Julia’s House website and promotion on local events websites.
Where possible and when appropriate provide support by way of finding sponsorship, attendees and prizes for Friends groups & Community events.
Campaigns and events / Service awareness raising and fundraising campaigns across the broad spectrum of Community Fundraising groups and in local communities to develop Friends groups, in conjunction with the community fundraising plan.
Assist in developing fundraising initiatives and 3rd party events, undertaking research, marketing, project management to defined budgets and ROI.
Evaluate opportunities & action as appropriate. Ensure the charity has a presence at relevantCommunity eventsand activities.
In conjunction with the Community FundraisingAssistant arrange licences, volunteer resources for collections and similar Community activities as necessary.
Administration / Undertake own administration as and when required.
Provide fundraising events with administrative support, including thank you letters and promotional communications (print and web), or co-ordinate timely production of these via the Community Fundraising Assistant.
DEVELOPMENT OF FRIENDS GROUPS / In conjunction with the Acquisition Community Fundraiser, identify key areas and help to create new Friends groupsnew volunteer pools.
Develop and strengthen existing groups and share best practise across groups.
Guide and advise all groups as necessary, attending group meetings and events as required. Ensure all groups are equipped with the knowledge and tools to undertake their activities.
Representing Julia’s House / Give talks and presentations about the work of Julia’s House to Community groups and support volunteers to make such presentations.
Achievement of income targets / Agree detailed income and activity targets with the Community Fundraising Manager.
Achieve annual targets giving regular progress reports.
DEVELOPMENT OF OTHER DONORS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY.
Individuals / In conjunction with the Community Fundraising Assistant, support individuals who raise funds for Julia’s House. Refer to the Major Donor Manager when individuals may have considerable wealth or influence.
Support for the Fundraising Team / Work as a part of the Fundraising Team, helping with and servicing major projects, campaigns, initiatives and events.Sharing information and contacts with colleagues.
Health & Safety / Ensure that all Julia’s House Health & Safety Guidelines and Policies are adhered to at all times including manual handling.
Under line management guidance, regularly update and maintain own knowledge of safety rules, fire drills, internal security and accident procedures and adhere to these at all times.
Ensure access during all working hours to a vehicle that is insured for business, has a current Road Fund License, MOT certificate where relevant, and is regularly maintained in a road-worthy condition and in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines.
Risk assess Community events as appropriate and implement actions arising.
Commitment to Julia’s House Team. / Represent positively the work of Julia’s House.
Contribute positively to good teamwork and uphold team values.
Training & Personal Development. / Actively participate in appraisal system and attend training programmes to assist in personal development.
Participate in Shadowing and other learning opportunities across different Julia’s House teams.
Manual Handling / Due to the nature of this role, it will be necessary for you to carry out manual handling on a regular basis
This job description provides the main requirements of the post but is not exclusive. The Board of Julia’s House Trustees reserves the right, after due consideration, to indicate a requirement to develop the services where appropriate.
This post will be evaluated and the post holder appraised at regular intervals, when objectives will be set and monitored.
