1.GENERAL
1.1It is the intent of these specifications to describe the minimum requirements for a high pressure hydraulic sewer cleaner designed to use high velocity water jets in storm, sanitary and combined sewers, pipe drains and other conduits to remove obstructions, sand, solidified grease, roots and other materials. The unit, including all necessary equipment, shall be complete and ready for use. All parts not specifically mentioned which form part of the complete unit shall conform in design, strength and quality of material and workmanship to the highest standards of engineering practice.
1.2The high-pressure sewer-cleaning unit shall be the manufacturer’s standard as may be modified to meet the specifications. It shall be equipped with the manufacturer’s equipment and accessories which are the advertisement and published literature for the unit.
2.PUMP
2.1The pump shall be of own manufacture and a radial piston diaphragm design, eliminating packings and piston seals. The pump shall be capable of continuous operation at maximum designed pressure and must be capable of running dry continuously at full speed without damage and without recirculating water in the crankcase or using shutdown devices. The pump shall be capable of producing 4,000 psi with a flow up to 18 gpm. Crankshaft speed on the pump shall not be less than 1,000 rpm.
2.2All moving parts shall be contained in an oil bath crankcase and at no time shall any of the moving parts, except valves, come in contact with water.
2.3Pump crankcase shall contain eight (8) stainless steel barrels. Each barrel shall contain a tubular nitrile diaphragm, inlet valve and delivery valve.
2.4Pump shall be direct driven using flexible couplings. Use of belt drives will not be acceptable.
2.5The high-pressure pump shall have a five year limited warranty or 2000 hours (whichever comes first) against components which fail due to defects in workmanship or material. See attached warranty policy for details.
3.WATER TANK
3.1The unit shall contain two 300-gallon rotationally molded polyethylene water tanks connected by a 2” crossover, the total capacity of which shall be no more than 600 gallons with a maximum operating time of 43 minutes.
3.2The water tanks shall be mounted on a support assembly specifically designed for this purpose.
3.3An overhead type tank filling assembly with a 2” fire hydrant fitting shall be located on the curbside. An adaptor to convert from 2” hydrant fitting to ¾” garden hose shall also be supplied. A positive air gap anti-siphon system shall be incorporated to protect the potable water supply.
3.4The tanks shall contain a 2” spherical valve to enable easy gravity draining of water.
3.5The tanks shall be vented and shall have removable lids to permit inspection and access into the tanks.
4.TRAILER
4.1Trailer shall be a tandem axle trailer with 12,000 lbs. GVW.

or forwards from a central position
6.HOSE REEL
6.1The hose reel shall be designed to withstand maximum working pressure without distortion.
6.2Capacity of the hose reel shall not be less than 500 ft. of ½” high-pressure plastic hose.
6.3The outside diameter of the hose reel end discs shall be no more than 23”.
6.4The reel shall be driven by hydraulic power in both directions. The hydraulic drive shall have sufficient power to retract the hose when fully extended into the sewer with the sewer cleaning jet in operation.
6.5The unit shall be equipped with a pivoting hose reel, which shall be capable of rotating aobut a vertical axis through 180º with five (5) locking positions.
6.6The hose reel frame shall be constructed totally of tubular steel. Angle iron construction shall not be acceptable.
7.HOSE REEL DRIVE SYSTEM
7.1The hydraulic power for powering the hose reel shall be by means of a pump directly driven from the auxiliary engine; hydraulic motor with direct drive to the hose reel; an oil reservoir; a direction and speed control valve and hydraulic hose rated to withstand the maximum system pressure.
7.2The oil filter shall be the return type and have a replaceable cartridge.
7.3The oil reservoir tank shall have a capacity of at least 8.0 gallons.
