GIN WHEEL ERECTION CHECKLIST – USER

1.Attachment Ring

-Free of bends and twists.

-There will be 360-degree free movement.

- SWL-stamped.

- Split pin fitted.

2.Rope Retaining Guide

-Is free of bends and damage.

-Brick is color-coded.

-Split pin fitted.

3.Rope Housing

-Is free of bends and twists and suitable to house a 0.71-inch (18-millimeters) rope.

-There will be 360-degree movement.

-Bush and center hole are in good order.

-Split pin/washers are in good order.

-Center shaft is free of bends, wear, and tear.

4.Before Use Checks

-The wheel must have an identification number.

-The safe working load (SWL) (for example, 110 pounds [50 kilograms]) must be marked on the wheel.

-The wheel will run freely and true, with no visible signs of corrosion, excessive wear, deformity, or contamination from oil, paints, concrete, etc.

-The edge of the wheel must be free from any sharp edges that could damage the rope.

-The wheel must not be crimped, which will prevent the rope from running smoothly.

-The 2 split pins must be in place, unbroken, and not corroded (bent over nails are not an acceptable alternative).

-The center pin must not show any signs of excessive wear.

-The supporting ring/hook must not be cracked, damaged, or deformed.

-The rope will have a means of identification (ID tag with SWL).

-The rope must be in sound condition and is not cut, frayed, worn, or damaged.

-The rope must not be kinked or contaminated by oil, paints, etc.

-The rope core must be firm and consistent along the rope length.

-The ends of the rope will be properly spliced.
