*The P.S.A.T. test is scheduled for October 11. Scoring high on this test is the only way to be considered as a National Merit Finalist. The cost of the test is $20.00, and your money should be paid to Mrs. Holmes in the office. Since you get an information booklet when you sign up (and we only have 40 slots), you should sign up ASAP.

*The Broken Bow Public Library website links to Learning Express Library which has great ACT (and PSAT) practice tests. You can also access Live Homework Help from 2pm to 9pm each day with live tutors. These services are completely free.

*To see how much federal student aid you may be eligible for, go to for a free estimate. You will not fill out the FAFSA until next year.

*If you are an Oklahoma’s Promise (OHLAP) student, our GPA must be a 2.5 or above in order to receive the Oklahoma’s Promise money. You must also have a 2.5 in your core classes. If you are unsure of your GPA, please come in and visit with me. You can find more information on OHLAP at

*The ACT can be registered for online at You must complete the information online. If you have an IEP, see your folder teacher before you register. Our High School Code is 370-478. You will have to upload a photo of yourself when you register. Also, you HAVE TO SHOW PHOTO ID WHEN YOU SHOW UP TO TEST along with your admission ticket. If you do not have these items, you will not be able to test. See Mrs. Trent if you do not have a photo ID.

*ACT allows students who receive free or reduced lunches to receive two fee waivers. This means you can take the ACT test two times for free. Please see Mrs. Trent for your fee waiver. Do not wait until the deadline to pick up the waiver. If you get a waiver from STEPS, Talent Search, or Upward Bound, make sure you NEVER use more than two total. They will charge you a testing fee plus a late fee for a third fee waiver used. Call ACT at 319-337-1000 if you are unsure how many waivers you have used.

*If you have a CDIB card, Johnson O’Malley will reimburse the cost of the ACT test. Please bring proof of payment to Mrs. Trent or Mrs. Battles. JOM will only accept credit or debit card statements that show where the money was taken out of the account. Please make sure to mark out all account numbers before turning in this information.

*If you are a concurrent student who decides to drop a class, notify Mrs. Trent A.S.A.P. If you drop a class without making arrangements, you are no longer a full-time student for purposes of insurance, social security, etc., and will receive an “F” on your high school transcript.

*Concurrent classes are enrolled in each semester. If you want to take classes next semester, see Mrs. Trent in December. The qualifications are:

Juniors: 21 composite ACT or 3.5 GPA. A sub score of 19 is also required in the content area.You will have to pay for these classes; your tuition will not be waived until your senior year.

*If you are a Choctaw student taking concurrent classes, visit the application for financial assistance for these classes. You have a deadline of October 1 to complete the application, so do it ASAP.

*Don’t have anything posted on social media sites that you don’t want colleges and/or scholarship coordinators accessing.
