Dear Parents,
With your help, Iotla Valley Elementary School is planning to implement The Leader in Me process—a whole school transformation process from Franklin Covey Education. It teaches 21st century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader.
Through embedding the practices and principles of The Leader in Me into the culture of our school, we hope to develop students who have the skills and self-confidence to succeed as leaders in the 21st century. Additionally, The Leader in Me is aligned to many national and state academic standards. The process teaches students the skills needed for academic success in any setting. These skills include critical thinking, goal setting, listening, speaking, self-directed learning, presentation making, and the ability to work in groups.
In summary, The Leader in Me is based on the paradigm that every student has latent leadership potential waiting to be ignited. We have heard your cries that high school and college graduates are not prepared for the workforce, and are not equipped with the “soft skills” so desperately needed to be solid, dependable, self-reliant workers. The Leader in Me will instill those skills into students as young as age 4, and they will carry those with them into the workforce as adults.
In order to implement this model for our students, the staff at Iotla Valley Elementary School must participate in highly intensive training. Through training, coaching, and resources, The Leader in Me imparts to school administrators and teachers a proven model and system for enhancing school culture, while simultaneously developing students’ character attributes and interpersonal skills.
We are requesting your financial assistance in providing this opportunity to the students at our school. For the staff to complete the training, we need to raise $35,000 by May 31st. We are in the process of fundraising, and have several fundraisers planned to help us. Your sponsorship will be greatly appreciated, and will go far towards helping us meet this goal.
