Description
The Solid Edge Reverse Engineering add-on module is a Solid Edge native application to transform STL mesh data into Solid Edge CAD model by extracting surfaces from the mesh.
Solid Edge Reverse Engineering ST9 (Beta) System Requirements and Information
Prerequisites
Solid Edge ST9 MP2 is recommended for the Reverse Engineering add-on but can also be installed on Solid Edge ST9 RTM. If installed on RTM, the context sensitive help for the Reverse Engineering commands will not work.
Operating System Requirements and Information
Same as Solid Edge ST9 (see below).
Known Issues and limitations for ST9 Beta
Solid Edge Reverse Engineering add-on for ST9 is in beta mode and not recommended for use in production. Beta mode has a limited set of capabilities and is still under development as we add more capabilities to make it a full-fledged application for Reverse Engineering. While we will make every attempt to remain compatible with data saved in beta mode, we may change support as the functions are developed.
Following are some of the known issues and limitations.-
-The add-on is available only in English language for beta.
-Only STL files are supported for now. Point cloud files are not supported. Once imported through the add-on import command, the mesh cannot be exported again as STL.
-The STL meshes that the Reverse Engineeringaddin works with are only available for use within the addin. They are only displayed in the Solid Edge Part and Sheet Metal environments while the Reverse Engineering addin is loaded. The mesh cannot be accessed from assemblies, drawings or sketch environments, and they cannot be used with other Solid Edge commands or functions.
-Automatic Identification of regions does not identify the regions correctly if the model has rounds. It also cannot identify cones and torii.
-Undo functionality within the Reverse Engineeringaddin operates separately from Solid Edge Undo functionality. Solid Edge cannot undo model changes created by the Reverse Engineering addin.
-If installed on Solid Edge ST9 RTM, the context sensitive help for the Reverse Engineering commands will not work. Also context sensitive help is available locally and not online.
-The Reverse Engineering commands are currently available only to following licenses-
- Solid Edge Premium
- Solid Edge Classic
- Solid Edge Academic
- Solid Edge AcademicU
Solid Edge ST9 System Requirements and Information
Operating System Requirements and Information
This release of Solid Edge has been certified to run on the following:

Solid Edge ST9 continues to install on Windows 7, however, if there is a Windows 7 specific problem, we cannot guarantee that a fix can be provided if support is required from Microsoft.
NOTE: Solid EdgeST10 will be the last Solid Edge release to support Windows 7.
