ONE PAGER: Novel (100 points)

Your One Pager needs to have all of the following requirements in any way that you choose to design your page:

  1. Properfour-line class heading on the back of the paper (5)
  2. Underlined title and author (5)
  3. Give the main character of this novel a superhero name. Then describe and explain the special power he/she would have. (10)
  4. A quotable quote: Pull out a meaningful quote from this novel that is also connected to its overall theme - (write down page number where you found it), give a one to two sentence interpretation of this quote. (10)
  5. Choose at least six visuals / symbols that accurately symbolize the main ideas of this novel – each should have a brief caption (one phrase) that explains its meaning (12)
  6. What is the one question you would ask one of the main characters? Write a response you would expect from this - Revert to first person point of view here. (No more than fivesentences) (10)
  7. A creative cluster basedon one of the charactersfrom the novel with at least six components (words / short phrases) that accurately describe the central idea. (10)
  8. Writea thoughtful personal statement based on the theme of this novel beginning with “I Believe….” – make sure that you mention some of the lessons that you as the reader take away from this novel – (one well organized paragraph). (10)
  9. An individual choice – Add your own creative idea to your One Pager (5)

  • Free of any spelling, capitalization, and punctuation errors (5)
  • Full page(8.5/12 standard unlined paper),legible, rich with writing and colorful / thoughtful visuals - Text is typed - #12 font / Times / single spaced / there should be nothing hanging out of the standard sized paper. (5)

Here’s an example of a personal statement (from The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingslover):

I believe that there is much more good in this world than there is evil. One place it can be found almost anytime is in young children. They do not wish to cause anyone pain and loss. They will give their heart and soul whether or not they’re loved back. They have no prejudice and do not judge based on who an individual is. Rather, their judgment comes based on one’s actions. Children are an example of what unconditional love is, and they must be cherished and protected at all times.
