DAWSON COUNTY WEED ADVISORY BOARD

6 February 2012

14:10 Called to order

Attendance: Joe Sharbono, Michael Bacon, Heath Craig, Dale Kreiman, Al Klemple, Doug Buxbuam

Topics discussed

·  Dale inquired about rates and requirement on the use of renting a helicopter to spray in some secluded areas. Joe is going to look into a couple of options

·  Al made a motion to approve the sale/disposal of some weed and mosquito vehicles. Motion was seconded by Doug Buxbaum. Discussion was that we will use Kelly Blue Book to determine a minimum amount we want to sell the vehicles for. We reserve the right to reject any bids if not to our satisfactory. We can sell the vehicles out right instead of putting them up for auction.

The vehicles to be sold are as follows:

o  brown/tan pickup that was wrecked a couple years ago.

o  2002 FORD F-150

o  2003 FORD F-350

o  1994 DODGE DAKOTA

o  Wrecked four wheeler

·  Heath reported that the all that was left on the vehicles to do is the servicing throughout the vehicle. He had just finished with the 50 Gallon Slide in. He is currently working on making a set up for a 150 Gallon Slide in sprayer that was found to be in usable condition previous weed coordinator decided to throw away in the scrap pile at the shell yard. The ramps for the four-wheeler trailer needs some work.

·  Joe and Heath reported that through a grant, a new four wheeler was purchased. Heath has retrofitted it the same as the ones we already had.

·  Dale mentioned having a map with GPS coordinates and outlined area of area sprayed be sent along with the bill. Michael commented that it might take some more time to bill but it wouldn’t be hard to create a map.

·  Doug reported that they commissioners had met with Darren Ollerman about the construction of the weed building. An agreement was reached and work will resume at the end of March on the building. Darren agreed that they will pay for and repair anything they had lost, ruined or messed up on.

·  Both Joe and Heath will be working a booth at GATE and there will be information available to people about the equipment we have available to rent, rates of rental equipment and our spray rates. Heath will also have a display set up with examples of what different type of noxious weeds look like.

·  Dale wants the minutes of each meeting sent to the other board members since they keep asking him what’s going with the weed district. It was mentioned that they should be encouraged to attend meetings so they know what’s going on.

·  A PSA will be sent to the paper to advise the community of the next weed board meeting when it becomes scheduled.
