Pamplin seeks students who demonstrate superior intellectual promise and academic performance, dedication to their communities, interest and success in physical fitness and health, and unimpeachable integrity. Students who accept this award must also agree to join the Honors College and work towards an honors diploma. Students must have at least a 3.8 GPA and be ranked in the top 10 percent of their class. The Batten Honors College application process requires an essay, a resume, and an interview. The Batten Honors College admission committee meets monthly throughout the fall and spring. The review process is holistic, and applicants who are deemed admissible on the basis of academic performance, essay, and evidence of service and extracurricular activities will be invited to campus to interview with the committee. Batten Fellows will be selected from among those who are admitted to the Batten Honors College. Student must have a 3.0 GPA, engage in community service, and be accepted to an enrolling full-time in an accredited U.S. undergraduate program for Fall 2017. Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation of which one speaks to volunteer service.
