Exciting News for X, Y, Z Child Care Parents

X,Y,Z Child Care is committed to providing high-quality child care, so we’ve just enrolled in the Early Achievers program.

Got questions? We’ve got answers.

What is Early Achievers? Early Achiever is Washington’s quality rating and improvement system, sometimes referred to as QRIS. Early Achievers is a free and voluntary program, open to licensed child care facilities and publicly funded preschool programs in Washington.

Why take this step? X,Y,Z Child Care wants your child’s experience with us to be the best it can possibly be. Early Achievers helps us in our goal of providing high-quality care.

What does this mean for staff? The decision means staff have made a long-term commitment to quality improvement, starting with 18 -24 months of intense training and consultation in preparation for receiving a quality rating. After we receive our rating, we will begin receiving coaching and going deeper in our quality improvement efforts. There will also be financial incentives available to support these efforts. By participating in Early Achievers, staff members are also eligible for financial assistance to attend college.

How will things change? Some of the changes you might not notice. Staff will attend trainings then start incorporating what they’ve learned throughout the facility. You might also see an Early Achievers coach stopping by from time to time for a visit. You may notice visible changes in the classrooms. It’s all designed to improve quality.

What happens when the training and rating preparation is completed? After successfully completing required trainings and consultation visits, we’ll receive an independent review conducted by the University of Washington. The result is a quality rating of between 2 and 5. A rating of 3 or higher is considered to be at a quality level of excellence. A rating of 2 is considered to be above minimum child care licensing requirements.

What does a rating mean? Parents who see the Early Achievers logo can be assured that the child care facility they are entering is committed to quality care and early learning by adhering to best practices. The rating provides specific information about the particular strengths of your facility.

Why is this a big deal? Early Achievers is a voluntary program for licensed child care, so X,Y,Z Child Care is demonstrating our commitment to quality improvement by joining.
