JUNIOR WOOD BAT TOURNAMENT

SPOKANE, WA. AND COEUR D’ALENE, ID.

TOURNAMENT RULES

  1. All games will be 7 (seven) innings and have an 8 (eight) run rule.
  2. Only wood bats will be used. No composite bats will be allowed. Laminated bats ok. Each team gets 2 bats.
  1. No new inning is to start after 2 hours & 15 minutes. An official at each game site will notify each team as to the official start time of each game. There will be no time limit on championship day.
  1. If at the end of seven innings and if the score is tied, the game may continue as long as the time limit rule is not violated. If at the end of the time limit, the game is still tied, the game will be considered a tie game.
  2. Each team will plays two games on June 30th , two games on July 1st and one game on July 2rd.
  1. The 8 POD winners will play at 1 pm on July 2nd in the quarterfinals. The winners advance to the semifinals. See Schedule for matchups. Prior to these Sunday games the 8 POD winners will be seeded. After the quarterfinal games, the top seed remaining will become the #1 seed to the semifinals. 2-4 seeds will follow accordingly. Semifinal games will be played at Thorco field at the Kroc Center in CDA. The first semi-final games will be at 9 am and 11:30am with the two semi-final winners meeting at 2:00 pm for the championship. #1 seed will play the #4 seed in the 9 AM game. The #2 seed will play the #3 seed in game 2 at 11:30AM. Coin flips for semifinals and championship game will determine home team.

Any ties after the completion of the preliminary games will be decided as follows:

A.  Head to head competition, the team that won that game will be the winner.

B.  If those teams did not play or their game ended in a tie, then the team with the fewest runs allowed during pool play will be the winner

C.  If two teams both allowed the same number of runs during pool play then the team with the best difference between runs scored and runs scored against will be the winner. IE: Team “A” scored 30 run for and had 25 scored against, the difference would be 5. Team “B” scored 35 runs for and had 25 runs scored against, the difference would be 10. Team “B” would be the winner because his 10 was better than the 5 for team “A”.

D.  The maximum number of runs scored vs. runs allowed per game will be “8”

E.  If 3 or more teams are tied, then teams will go by fewest runs allowed.

F.  If teams are still tied a coin flip will decide the outcome.

G.  All seeds are determined in the same manner above 6A- 6G.

7.  If all teams have not completed their 5 games, the record for all teams will be based on the best win loss percentage for the games they have played.

8.  Home team for each scheduled game will be as listed on the schedule. Home teams for semi-final and the final game will be determined by a coin toss prior to each game.

  1. Any player ejected from play must stay in the dugout and sit out the next tournament game his team plays. Any coach ejected must be out of the stadium or site and out of sight. Determination by site coordinator if coach must sit a game or not.
  2. No jewelry other than necklaces is to be worn by any player. The umpire may order the removal of any necklace if in the umpire’s opinion it is a distraction.
  3. The DH may bat for any player. DH must be declared at the plate conference or may not be used during the game. All other Washington State and National American Legion Baseball rules will apply. The tournament director’s decision will be final
  4. ALL coaches must be in proper uniform while on field which includes the use of protective skull caps while coaching the bases. This rule MUST be followed.
