RECITAL 2014
HAIR, MAKEUP, TIGHTS, SHOES, and MISC INFO
HAIR
· See posted list for required hair style.
· See posted picture for description.
· If a “high pony tail” is required, and your child has a shorter hair length, put as much hair as possible into the pony, creating a “half pony.”
· Bangs do not have to be put back unless they are growing out and are longer than eyebrow length.
· Remember: hair spray, bobby pins, bun pins, and hair gel are so helpful and essential for keeping the hair in place – a must for any performance!
· “Bun-makers” – Sally Beauty Supply (2 doors down from the studio) carries this little foam device that’s very helpful in getting hair into a bun! There’s a sample on the studio recital bulletin board. These sell for around $3.50.
· NO HAIR EXTENSIONS &/OR HAIR PIECES allowed for any age group. This includes Dress Rehearsal, Picture Day, and Recital.
MAKEUP
· Stage makeup should be worn during both dress rehearsal and the recital.
· Stage makeup:
Ages 3-7 (combo classes and beginner I classes): blush, lipstick
Ages 8-10: blush, lipstick, eye shadow, mascara optional for light-colored eyes
Ages 11+: blush, lipstick, eye shadow, mascara
MISCELLANEOUS INFO
· No jewelry – only small stud earrings allowed on stage.
· Girls: no undies under costumes.
· Pin removable tutus w/ safety pins.
· Pin costume shoulder straps straight back w/ safety pins – not halter-style.
· Save costumes as play clothes for AFTER the recital.
· No bra straps showing. Pin straps to costume, if needed.
SHOES
· Please see the posted list for color of required shoes for your dance.
· All jazz and tap shoes must be black, unless otherwise specified.
· All ballet shoes must be pink. “Pink” refers to the peachy pink color of pink ballets @ the time of purchase. If your ballet shoes are not pink, you may paint your current shoes. Shoe dye can be purchased @ any shoe repair store for an affordable price. Close to us: Ike’s Shoe Repair, 676-2400, 5100 Clayton Rd. #29, (next to Baskin Robbins by K-Mart). Ask for the color “shell pink.”
· Tap buttons are required for all Mary Jane-style tap shoes with ribbon ties. These are available for purchase in the studio for $3.00/pair.
TIGHTS
· Please see the posted list for color of required tights for your dance. Tights MUST be required color and style. These are available @ Encore Dancewear Theatrical Supply in Walnut Creek and online.
· We HIGHLY recommend purchasing 2 pair, in case one gets torn, lost, or forgotten. The practice of buying 2 for recitals has been a “life saver” countless times!
