Maitenance Technician Expectations

1. Role and Goals for a Maintenance Technician:

The role of a maintenance technician is to provide maintenance support to the maintenance team. The goal is to provide professional support in a manner that helps us meet our team goals of safety, teamwork, quality assurance, communication and education.

2. Objectives that must be meet to reach these goals:

A.  ) Maintain a safe work environment.

B.  ) Work in a team oriented manner as well as separately without supervision on jobs you have the skills and knowledge, and the ability to know the difference. C&D is a self-directed workforce.

C.  ) Maintain optimum productivity levels in the maintenance team and plant.

D.  ) Be flexible in the work schedule. This position requires working weekends.

Requirements of Maintenance Technicians include but not limited to:

·  Experience with basic maintenance duties such as welding, cutting and basic fabrication.

·  Must have basic personal tools that are required to work efficiently.

·  Understand the importance of Preventative Maintenance.

·  Able and willing to successfully complete required schooling for a millwright training program.

·  Maintain a clean, neat work place. Keep maintenance work areas clean and pick up after yourself when working in the plant.

·  Experience in a sawmill environment desireable

·  Basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems a plus

In order to be flexible in the work schedule:

·  Maintenance personnel must maintain maximum flexibility in order to maintain the plant. At times this will require maintenance personnel to work odd hours, or long hours to keep the plant operating efficiently.

·  This position reqires working weekends.

Physical requirements for the Millwright include:

·  Ability to lift weights ranging from 0 to 100lbs.

·  Full range of upper and lower body motion is required for maintenance.

·  This job requires standing or walking 90% of the time and includes climbing stairs and ducking under conveyors.

These positions require availability to work all shifts, and be willing and able to work 40+ hours per week. This is a sawmill environment, so must be physically able to climb stairs and catwalks, duck under conveyors, and work in tight areas. As a production facility, must be willing and able to leave a project to fix a break-down “in the moment”.
