The Hunter Pace

Come enjoy the fun and ride Lord Stirling Stable’s beautiful, well-groomed trails. This Hunter Pace course is green horse-and rider-friendly! It’s pony-friendly too.
Teams of two or three are invited to ride a well-marked course at least six miles in length. There are approximately 30 fences up to 3’ in height. Fences 2’6” and over are identified with a cone, and there is a way around every fence.
Teams will depart at three-minute intervals. Overtaking teams have the right of way. There will be a three-minute rest at the checkpoint where each team will have their Start/Finish card initialed to be turned in at the finish line.
An approved ASTM/SEI safety helmetwith a permanently attached chin strap(no snaps)and riding shoes or boots are required for all participants.
Casual dress is fine. Western wear/saddles are welcome.

Teams depart between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM

Last team out must be at the starting gate and ready to go by 1:00 PM
Costs:Junior (under 18) Entry Fee: $35
Adult Entry Fee: $40
Pinney (Team Number): $5 refundable deposit

There are five divisions:
Open: Open to all
Family: Members of the same immediate family
Junior: At least one team member must be under 18
Senior: All ridersin team must be over 50 years of age
Hilltopper: No jumping
Ribbons will be awarded to the six teams in each division that come closest to the ideal time set for the course. Ribbons can be picked up at the Stable office.
If you wish to have your ribbons mailed to you, pls call the stable office at 908-766-5955.
Ribbons will not be mailed unless requested.
We provide water but no hoses, so please bring buckets to haul water.
No alcoholic beverages are permitted on Park property. All dogs must be leashed.

From Route 287 (North or South)
Exit 30A (North Maple Ave/Basking Ridge). Follow North Maple Ave approximately 1.5 miles, then bear left at the fork (road name changes to South Maple). Go past Lord Stirling Stable entrance to next road (Lord Stirling Road) and turn left. Entrance to grounds is on the left 1/2 mile.
From Route 78 (East or West)
Exit 36 (Basking Ridge / Warrenville)
Exit toward Basking Ridge
Follow King George Road approx. 1 1/4 miles
Bear left to a light(at the white church)
Travel ½ mile, then bear right onto Stonehouse Rd
Bear right again at the fork after the Getty Station ontoSouth Finley Ave / Route 613
Proceed under railroad overpass, then
Turn right at the light onto Cross Road
Follow Cross Roadto its end
Turn left onto South Maple Avenue
Make first right onto Lord Stirling Road and park in field on the left approximately ½ mile down the road.
