Volunteer Position Description

United Way’s Key Club program was founded in 1981 to promote and encourage individual leadership giving. The program has grown from a few hundred members to nearly 4000 members in 2014. Contributions from Key Club members represent 30% of the campaign dollars raised each year. The collective power of Key Club gifts over the past few years has meant that all of United Way’s major community initiatives were funded – a $5 million dollar investment!

Key Club Coordinator Profile:

As a leader in the community and a current Key Club donor, a Key Club Coordinator serves as a representative for the Key Club program within his or her workplace. The Key Club Coordinator manages his or her employer’s Leadership Giving effort for the internal United Way campaign.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a Leadership Giving strategy emphasizing the importance of Key Club investments.
  • Communicate with individual Key Club members at his or her company about the benefits of Key Club membership and the value of Key Club gifts.
  • Ensure proper recognition of Key Club donors at his or her company.
  • Organize a special event or educational program for current and prospective Key Club donors.
  • Identify prospective Key Club members and invite them to attend Key Club events.
  • Serve on the campaign committee.
  • Distribute Key Club pins to donors at the conclusion of workplace campaign.
  • Encourage donor attendance at the annual Key Club reception.
  • Works in collaboration with the United Way Key Club liaison, Employee Campaign Manager, Loaned Executive and Rosenberry Ambassador to meet the campaign goals.
