EmmaPass and John Collier set off in the Air Show 10k
The Wesham women secured their second win in the latest round of the Inter Club Grand Prix at Chorley on Wednesday evening, with the men another second place. It was a clear sunny evening under the Perseid meteor storm; full results next week.
The third and final Badger Sett 10k of 2015 in CuerdenValley took place on Thursday evening with 188 runners on what turned out to be a glorious summer evening after morning rain. With another win by Preston’s Gary Pennington in 35:26 to add to his many previous victories David Taylor was Wesham’s star act finishing 8th in 38:57. Carmel Sullivan won the women’s’ race in 44:57 also placing 1st W45 and 33rd overall. Helen Lawrenson was 2nd W45 and 3rd woman in 44th place with 45:59. George Kennedy was 50th in 46:47 finishing 4th M55 with Nicola Unsworth 4th woman and 1st W40 in 46:48 in 52nd place. Sharon Cooper was 13th woman and 70th overall in 49:49, 4th W40, and Kath Hoyer finished 2nd W55 and 22nd with 51:48, 98th overall. Dave Young was 117th in 53:45, 3rd M65, and Peter Cooke was 147th with 58:16. The Wesham ladies won the women’s team and the men were 8th.
Wesham had a big entry in the Air Show 10k in Bispham on Sunday incorporating the Northern Masters Championships winning both the Men’s and Women’s team categories. Steve Waterhouse was on fine for in windy and damp conditions finishing 6th in 36:42, winning the M45 category. Alex Rowe was 2nd M55 and 11th in 38:00 placing 5thin the championship. Troy Watson finished 15th in 38:59, 3rd M45, and Paul Hetherington was 26th with 40:44. EmmaPass placed 4th woman and 40th overall in 42:35 with Carmel Sullivan 5th woman and 46th in 43:13, 2nd W45. Nicola Unsworth was 10th woman and 66th overall finishing 4th W45 in 45:31. Kath Hoyer won the women’s Championship and the W55 category, placing 93rd in the race overall, 16th woman and 2nd W55 with 48:21. John Collier was 5th M60 in a high quality field coming in only 28th with a time of 41:03, 9th in the Championship. Nigel Shepherd was 5th M55 and 54th in 44:33; Alan Hudson 2nd M65 and 62nd in 45:02, 18th in the Championship; son-in-law Sean Murray 64th in 45:23; Ben Wrigley 74th in 46:30; Gemma Owen 12th woman and 80th in 47:10; Jason Blagden 81st in 47:11; Lee Barlow on easy street with 47:12 in 82nd; Phil Leaver 86th in 47:40 (13th M60, 22nd in the Championship); Mick Edge 89th in 48:14 (8th M55); Anne Mayers-Smith 17th and 97th in 48:31; Martin Bates 107th in 49:42 (10th M55); Michael Rawcliffe 108th in 49:45; Michaela Dempsey 22nd and 115th in 50:42; Kerry Eccles 23rd and 117th in 50:51; Dave Young 9th M65 and 130th in 51:46; Debbie Myerscough 29th and 140th in 53:26 (3rd W50); Karen Davies 50th and 187th in 59:34; and John Howorth 188th in 59:46 (17th M60).
Rob Danson had a run in the latest Sale Sizzler in Manchester on Wednesday finishing 7th in 15:29, beaten on this occasion by Preston’s Dave Rigby but just holding off his training mentor Rob Affleck by 5 seconds. Men’s winning time was 14:15 by Andrew Heyes of Hallamshire, and the leading woman, international Lauren Howarth of Leigh clocked 16:33.
Steve Myerscough ran the Astley Park Trail Race on Wednesday evening finishing 24th in 27:39 for the 4.5 miles. Carmel Sullivan was 11th woman and 2nd W45 and 90th in 31:22. Helen Lawrenson was 14th and 3rd W45 in 101st place overall with 31:45, Sarah Sherratt 27th and 5th W40 in 33:30, 131st overall. Mick Edge was 136th and 8th M55 in 33:51. Michaela Dempsey was 46th woman and 7th W45 in 36:41, 179th overall. Debbie Myerscough was 3rd W50, 57th woman and 197th overall with 38:44. The Wesham ladies were 3rd women’s team.
Alex Rowe ran his 50th parkrun in the CuerdenValley 2nd anniversary on Saturday; clocking 19:46 for an M55 age graded performance of 79.96%. Catherine Carrdus clocked 21:20 for W40 73.75% and John Bertenshaw 22:38 for M55 70.25%. Steve Myerscough had an M40- grade 71.74% in the Preston parkrun with a time of 19:10 and Nigel Shepherd M55 72.71% with 21:30.
