Challenges

Wireless network traffic will increase 500times over the next decade, mainly due to growth in data traffic. This will happen despite increasingly limited spectrumresources and increasing complexwireless network environments. Operators want to fully use their existing spectrum resources to provide users with a consistent mobile broadband (MBB) experience amid increasing user demand, especially in hotspot areas, indoor environments, and at other weak coverage areas like cell edges. Applications & Benefits

Huawei has become a world-leading small cell equipment supplier since launching AtomCell, and will deploy the first commercial-ready,same-frequency LTE Micro network in the first quarter of 2013 with operator TELUS in Canada. The network has already shown that Huawei can help TELUSrealize a more than 30% overall capacity gain with 10MHz bandwidth.

In September 2012, Huawei cooperated with Vodafone to launch eRelay solution in Spain and Germany. These solutions utilize Micro NodeBwireless backhaulwith LTE TDD for low-cost, high-capacity small cell deployment, and high-speed HSPA+ data services for more than 20,000 hotspots and weak coverage areas.

AtomCell meets operator needs worldwide for high-performance, high-capacity networks deployed in complex wireless environments. As a result, Huawei has to date won more than 60 AtomCell Micro contracts for UMTS and LTE, the most of any vendor.
