COACHING PREPARATION FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON

(1) All Welland Soccer Club (WSC) coaching staff requires a yearly Police Check. The Access to Information Waiver form must be picked up at the Young’s Sportsplex (WSC) administration office. Required yearly and must be submitted no later than NOVEMBER 1st. The WSC will not reimburse fee.

(2) All WSC coaching staff requires a one-time completion of Respect in Soccer. This is an online course that must be completed by April 15th. (Respect in Sport qualifies.) The WSC will not reimburse fee.

(3) All WSC coaching staff that have not completed the former Senior Coaching Level requires a one-time completion of the Making Ethical Decisions (MED) course. http://coach.ca/make-ethical-decisions-med--s16834 The WSC will not reimburse fee.

(4) All WSC coaching staff requires a one-time completion of Making Head Way the Concussion eLearning Series. http://coach.ca/making-head-way-concussion-elearning-series-p153487

(5) Coaches and Assistant Coaches require completion of the appropriate LTPD coaching course specific to the age group they are coaching in the coming year.

The WSC will reimburse fees for active youth coaches who attain the appropriate coaching levels required to coach in their respective leagues. Please submit original receipts and copy of your certificate of completion to the WSC office. You must complete the soccer season before reimbursement will be processed.

5) All coaching staff must complete a Screening Disclosure Form. This form is available at the WSC office or from Nick Pirbus.

6) Roster Dates: All REP teams competing in the Hamilton MJ League, and SELECT teams competing in the Niagara Soccer League (NSL) must submit a tryout roster to the WSC for approval by the Technical Director and Youth Competitive Programs Director and / or club Designate. All team rosters will be reviewed by the Youth Competitive Director, Tech Director and \ or club Designate forapproval prior to final roster selection. Team rosters will not be announced prior to this approval.

TeamRosters must be submittedto the WSC office byOctober 16th.

(7) Uniforms and Team Attire: All teams will be fitted for uniforms in November.

While not mandatory, teams may choose to purchase optional track suits/bags, t-shirts, spirit wear, etc.

Winter Team Registration: All teams mustbe registered as an indoor team prior to playing an exhibition game against another clubor entering an indoor (winter)tournament.This is strictly enforced by NSA (Niagara Soccer Association). WSC teams may play WSC teams without registering. For those coaches who need to register their teams please visit the WSC office. Fee is $10.00 per player. Players and coaches must have player books with recent colour pictures processed.

Summer Registration: All players need to register whether Select, Rep or House League. If players are uncertain whether they will be selected for a Rep or Select team, they should still register for the House League. Once team selections are finalized that player can make the necessary registration changes at the WSC office. Registration dates will be announced from February to March.

Underage Players: The WSC does not permit underage players. The WSC will consider underage requests beginning at the age of 16 if the request is in accordance with the WSC Underage Policy. No player is permitted to attend a tryout with an older team without the permission of the WSC.

Import/Non-Import Player Policy: All Select and Rep coaches must submit a tryout roster to the WSC for approval by the Technical Director and Youth Competitive Programs Director and / or club Designate.

OSA Policies: All teams mustabide by OSA policies. Please ensure proper forms are used (see Team Permission Forms) for all competitions. All teams are responsible for any fines imposed by the NSA or the OSA as a result of non – compliance to OSA policies

Team Permission Forms: OSA Permission Forms (Travel Permits) must be processed prior to participating in any tournament outside of Niagara, and for all exhibition matches (Application to Host) with another club. Temporary Registration Permit (TPR) forms must be filled when calling up players at certain ages. Forms are available at http://ctms.ontariosoccer.net/

Forms must be completedand forwarded to Nick Pirbus (WSC Soccer Director) at . Teams are responsible for all costs associated with team permission forms.

Equipment for winter training can be obtained by contacting Nick Pirbus at .

Winter Training Time: Coaches may rent dome time for winter training by calling the Nustadia office at 905-735-8106. If coaches wish to rent a school gym, insurance forms are necessary, and are available at the office. Through a reciprocal agreement between Young’s Sportsplex and Ecole Secondaire Catholique Jean-Vanier, we have rental access to their gymnasium on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 6:00pm-10:00pm. There is a cost associated with gymnasium rental.
