New Directors for the St John the Baptist Catholic Multi-Academy Trust

In April 2016, the Diocese brought 7 of its schools in Norfolk and north Suffolk together ina Catholic Multi-Academy Trust (CMAT). It has begun well and we now wishto widen and strengthen the key group of people – the Directors – who steer the CMAT on behalf of the Diocese and Bishop Alan.

The Directors oversee the educational progress, ethos, financial health and development of the CMAT. They aim to make all our schools outstanding places for our children and young people to learn and grow together as part of our Diocesan family. We are looking for individuals with a variety of backgrounds and different skills – in education, management, finance, HR etc – to join the Board of 11. The time commitmentisapproximately 10 meetings per year. The Board itself rotates around the 7 schools;Committees meet in Norwich.

This is a challenging time but with exciting opportunities, including the possibility of founding new Catholic Free Schools in the near future. Extensive training will be available to ensure that whatever your background you can play a full part as a Director in improving the chances of our young people. We are seeking to increase the diversity of the Board and would particularly welcome applications from women, members of minority ethnic communities and people with disabilities. More information is available at:

Our schools need a strong group of committed Directors to secure and develop our CMAT and we invite you to apply by sending a short letter and brief CV outlining the skills and experience you would bring to the Board to Jane Austin, email: .

Catholicsform a majority on the Board, but we also welcome applications from non-Catholics who are supportive of our ethos. The CMAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all Directors, staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful applicants for Director posts will be subject to DBS checks.

Our distinctive ethos is founded on the Gospel values of faithfulness, humility, truth, forgiveness, tolerance, dignity, service and respect.

Our 7 schools (more to join soon we hope!) are: St Augustine’s, Norwich; St Benet’s, Beccles; St Edmund’s, Bungay; St Francis of Assisi, Norwich; St Mary’s, Lowestoft; St Mary and St Peter, Gorleston; Notre Dame High School , Norwich.

We are united in the belief that God’s love, peace, truth, and joy is for all. We are dedicated to the achievement of excellence in all we do. We cherish the uniqueness of each of our school communities and celebrate together as one Trust family. By following Jesus’ example, we bear witness to the greatness of God.
