Rotary Emblems
(Official Licensee for the production and sale of Rotary International emblems)
Fixit hints
1. Emblems peel easily from their backing paper and can de applied to any clean, reasonably smooth and/or polished surface.
2. Sizes 100 – 200mm diameter are best fitted by lifting the backing paper for approx. 25mm and folding it to expose the adhesive. The emblem can then be accurately positioned before removing the rest of the backing paper and pressing down firmly to seal the emblem.
3. Large emblems 300 –600mm need a large flat surface to avoid wrinkling. If it is to be mounted on a board, we suggest Foamex board or sheeting as this is easily cut (Stanley knife). It is light, can be punch holed and reduces the risk of accidents. The board can be mounted or hung and can be bought on a roll (3mm thickness) or in varying thickness boards.
4. Gently remove the backing sheet from the back of the graphic - do not attempt this in outdoor windy conditions as any flying particles may stick to the adhesive side
5. Small emblems (peelers) do not adhere permanently/readily to clothing or flexible fabrics and the adhesive may cause damage to materials such as suede.
If small peelers have been purchased for this purpose, the recipient should be made aware and the peeler handed to the recipient.
6. Emblems can be laid on to plastic sheet, painted and enamelled surfaces, and coated tarpaulin.
The surface must be flat for application and, preferably, held taut. If solvents have
been used to clean surfaces they must be thoroughly dry and the solvent evaporated.
7. Never fold an emblem! To store, preferably keep it flat. If used on banners etc, roll the banner from the ends and lay rolled ends atop the emblem.
8. If you have received separate lettering with your order, you will find that this is reverse matched. Position the emblem and offer up the lettering before removing the adhesive covering paper. Faintly mark on the board the centre of the lettering at its position beneath or above the emblem, ensure it is horizontal and make a further mark. Remove the front covering and offer the lettering to the board in the marked position. Remove the backing paper.
